Thoughts in the Shade
Xenafar Jun 2019
What is a person without their shadow?
Just a passing shape,
Leaving no indentation,
As if they weren’t even there.

Shadows twist and distort,
Showing a frightening version of you,
With gangly legs and pointed fingers.

But the same can be said about the shade of a tree,
Though dark and looming,
Shielding you on a sunny day.

Uncertainty
Xenafar Jun 2019
Uncertainty is a disgruntled maw,
One that gnaws on your bones and swallows your heart.
It salivates at the thought.

Still
Xenafar Jun 2019
I had a dream I carried a torch through an endless field.
The darkness seeped like ichor as endless as the stars.
It seemed to carry on for eternity,
Until the hungry sea gazed at me from below a cliffside.
I tripped, sending the cherry flames over the edge
And saw it swallowed by ravenous waves of grey.
But still it burned.
Wrote this for a poem collection, probably my favorite poem I've written :)

Silence
Xenafar Nov 2019
It's the most vivid sound you will ever hear.
It settles with a calm and easily startles like the ricochet from the lightest of touches to the glassiest lake.
PROMPT: Describe silence
