My man
Ohani Dec 2018
He’s like the break of dawn,
Like the smell of freshly brewed coffee.
The unwrapping of a gift,
A lunar eclipse.
He’s a bouquet of roses,
And the worst is
I run out of wonderful things
To compare him to.
Because the best of it all
Is that he’s mine.

He calls it fun
Laughter and games
Sweet nothings to say
He calls it fun
My heart in his hands
I can barely stand
He calls it fun
Talking in the phone
He feels like home
He calls it fun
I call it magic

He makes art
Not with his hands
But with his eyes
They stroke the canvas of my heart
Back and forth in a rainbow
Colors of life and passion
He plays music
Not with his hands
But with his smile
Drums play whenever he does
Trumpets flare at his walk
He Touches me
Not with his hands
But with his soul
Where I’ve found a resting spot
For these tired bones
He IS art.

There was a moment
A perfect moment
Where the night was young
Spirits were high
I stole the night
You whispered in my ear
Everything I longed to hear
And I lived
I soared
I let go unabashed
My laughter booming
Cheeks burning
Butterflies churning
And there you were
Perfectly unaware
That long before
I had dreamed of this
Prayed for this
Yearned for this
Now it’s arrived
But I can only think of this night
First Date

Rose for you
Ohani Nov 2018
Tell me you’re here to stay
My hands are empty
The storehouse barren
Yet I still have love to give
It’s all I own
All I’ve grown
I’ve learned life is too cruel
wilting roses
Stuffed noses
And tattered souls
Yet in your eyes I see the light
Meant to give the world hope
So stay for me
And I’ll plant you a rose garden
And  give you my heart
That never hardens

Mr. Incredible
Ohani Nov 2018
A flower has bloomed
Amidst the chill of winter
How fitting it seems,
Getting to know you
As the season changes.
My tears dried and cracked
Staining my newly blushing cheeks as your voice lulls
My aching heart into remission.
Two adults, now young again
Testing the waters of friendship
How sweet it tastes to a dried mouth, these words of affection .
you've freed this heart
Too long in a cage
Now ready to take flight
Taking me to new heights
Blooming once again

Mothers pain
Ohani Oct 2018
I miss you
I gave you away
I have no right
I took you from my *******
I wasn’t up to the test
Forgive your mother
Never detest her
For she loves you still
Always will
Dandelions wilt on my path
The sun shys away at my pain
The moon calms the waves of my weary heart as I sob at the shoreline
Forgive me my child
Forget me so that I may love you from afar

With the rise of the sun
Comes the beating of frantic hearts
Nervous women holding back tears; exhausted men tying up loose ends.
When will it end?
Flowers wilt in her mind
As she waters her heart
Because the foliage there is long gone
They all pray for peace
And grovel on their knees
Yet the pain still throbs
Cut me open between sobs
Someone water me please

My stomach lurches
Jealousy is a cruel mistress
She always walks in uninvited
Her senses heightened
She  runs her fingers..
across my heart
Tainting every thought
So I sit chained to the couch
As she makes herself at home
and I lose all sanity

We drift away
Far from     Love
Eyes watering
Fists clenching
Everyone moves on
Live on
Away.....From me
As they hold each other tight
I stand alone
They make new friends
I stand alone
Like a feather to the wind
Always adrift
Always alone

Tell me about yourself
You say as you consult social media
As if the screen was more accurate
Than my face
Oh can’t you see
The USB  cord is tied around your neck
Trying to connect loose ends

Because face to face
You’re nothing but a mess

Kitty cat
Ohani Oct 2018
I paint my lips Red
Like the color
that floods my vision
My nails long and pretty
Sharpened to feline points
Who have I become?
Bold and angered
silent and treacherous
A force of hatred
My heels click against the ground
Leaving a sensuous echo down the hall, but don’t come find me
And don’t try me
Because this feline
Is done hiding

Ohani Oct 2018
I’m tired
Of everyone
Of conniving smiles
And upturned noses
Of hidden laughter
And many excuses
What do you want!?
If you’re gonna cause drama
Give me peace
And just leave
Because I hold the gun
Don’t make me pull the trigger

To love an Artist
Ohani Oct 2018
My love is not a novelty
It is a prize
Hard earned
An exceptionally priced
For I am a poet
And our loves last past our lives
For it is remembered forever
On the parchment of our times
And on the paper of our hearts
Love me
And live on forever

Where doYou go when life
Kicks you out the front door
What do you do when all you’ve done is ripped from your hands

Who do you go to when everyone
Is busy within their own life

When is it enough
Why wasn’t it enough

No matter, I’ll just dance till my feet give out.

In a Jar
Ohani Sep 2018
Picture a girl
Innocent in all ways
Her shy eyes cast down
Breathless as he hugs her close
She thanks god
Because nothing
       has ever felt this good
She breathes in his scent
As his finger say all
that needs to be said
She then realized she was in love
In love with his hands
She knew it couldn’t last
It was going by so fast
She wanted to keep him in a jar
Letting him go was so hard
Didn’t Romeo and Juliet have to part? But what good did it do?
They both died, wretched apart.

The boy who hates cheese
Ohani Sep 2018
I met a boy
Simple in truth
Yet complex in his ways
He holds the weight of three
Yet counts on one; himself
He has a reason for all he does
He holds on month to month
He’s inspiring to see Because in his eyes I see hope
             Hope for me
  Hope that friendship,
Sometimes,is all you need

I’ve learned
Not every smile has meaning
I’ve learned
“I love you” is temporary
I’ve learned
Money rules the world
I’ve learned
Parents are under appreciated
I’ve learned
That I’ve get to learn everything
And that the sun sets and falls
in your eyes
What a lesson

Perfect stranger
Ohani Sep 2018
What I would give
for someone to hold me
To intertwine their fingers In mine
To caress my blushing cheeks
And stay with me
till the end of time
What would I give
For lazy morning kisses
And stolen glances over coffee
I’d give it all
All away
For a perfect stranger

Dance with me
Ohani Sep 2018
Lights shimmered across the ballroom
Couples glided onto the dance floor
Their aged hands griping gently
Onto their partners
I thought
Here is where I want my soul
To collide with yours
On the dance floor
Hand in hand
Disco ball above our heads
And music in our hearts
Today I saw ballroom dancing for the first time. I left my heart on the dance floor

Not Ok
Ohani Sep 2018
I stand unmoving
   At the cliffs edge
the wind whipping at my face
The cold rain slicing at my outstretched fingers
When will it be ok
Must I be tortured in order to live?
Must I be broken in order to love?
Who must I be to finally yell to the heavens “IM OK!”
Where must I be
       What does it take
              Why does it make...
                                             Me tired
                                            To wait
                                      Till it’s all ok.

Never A Bride
Ohani Sep 2018
With the chill of the air
Comes the warming of hearts
Love stories in their draft stages
Butterflies migrate in between stolen glances
The sun heating up blushed cheeks
Collars being straightened to impress
Perfumes mingle in the air
Intertwined with morning coffee
And evening wine
The stories are now beginning
All stories but mine

The smoke turned into daydreams
Her cheeks matched the color of the heavens
As the sun faded so did her fears

Always Enough
Ohani Sep 2018
Her days stretch into faded minutes and tired yawns
Should she let it all go to chase sunsets?
To pursue lost loves and forgotten road trips
We dream of times without time clocks and wages to earn
Yet we neglect all the moments we’ve earned.
          Too soon,
              Too late,
                Too young,
                  Too old
Too everything and anything, and yet never enough
Today I’ll close my eyes and taste the rain
And wave to the sunrise that’s calling my name
I will be everything, and anything
                                          Always enough

The seasons are changing
My heart feels weary
My footsteps unsteady
Just a little longer
Everyone seems to say
But my lungs don’t wanna stay
It feels so dry
It feels so numb
The dulling of senses
Running in the dark
I want to hide
Make myself small
Because at least then
I wouldn’t have to fight so long
Tell me it’s over
But don’t turn on the lights
Because I prefer to face my monster at night

Letter to Daddy
Ohani Sep 2018
Your ghost remains in the buildings of my childhood
In the old stones and broken pathways
In the trees that stood witness to your deceptions
I touch these old walls
And I can’t stop the tears from falling
Like the rain that fell when you left
When the stone pillars of my infancy caved in,
You clung to my worst memories like the fungus
That overtook the walls of the only home I knew
You destroyed the child that only wanted to grow
Resulting in the broken woman you never cared to get to know

Come In
Ohani Sep 2018
Forgive my silence
And overlook my solitude
These arms are barren
And my heart untouched
Few venture down my path
Or even look my way
So here I’ll stay
Alone and afraid
Until a lone wanderer
   Can conquer my maze

Black Hole
Ohani Sep 2018
The sky cries for me
  The moon pities me

Because I left the heavens to reside within your universe. And now I find myself prey to your black hole

Winter Wonderland
Ohani Sep 2018
I find myself wishing for December
When the cold air gave us an excuse to hold hands
And life was as bright as the neon lights that hanged above our heads
When your arms were the only home I wanted to run to
And your laughter the only music I played on repeat
You made it my favorite season
Your warmth is the only reason
I pray for the cold of winter

I don’t want to remember
When you said you’d stay
Yet you failed to
I don’t want to remember
When you said I was special
Yet left at the first occasion
Please don’t come near
Only to push me far
  Don’t talk to me
     To then hush me
I was made to carry the gift of life
To be strong and move mountains
I was not made to wait for you
To cry for you, to die for you.
You’re mistaken
if you think I’ll play your game
Thought I was a pawn;
  But soon you’ll see
      You messed with the Queen.
Don’t let your crown fall

Love Bug
Ohani Sep 2018
The days feel lazy
I watch in awe the love bugs
How they fly carelessly under the sun, aware not of the hostile world
One landed on my shoulder today
And I asked “how do you always manage to fly so aimlessly?”
They replied “the sun is our beacon and the winds our sea, as long as there’s a tomorrow, we have no cares you see?”
So I renounced my legs for wings
And became a love bug
For I too wanted to be careless
And live only for me

— The End —
