Mommy went to Heaven,
but I need her here today,
My tummy hurts and I fell down,
I need her right away!
Operator, can you tell me how
to find her in this book?
Is Heaven in the yellow part?
I don't know where to look.
I think my Daddy needs her too,
at night I hear him cry.
I hear him call her name sometimes,
but I really don't know why.
Maybe if I call her
she will hurry home to me.
Is Heaven very far away?
is it across the sea?
She's been gone a long, long time,
she needs to come home now!
I really need to reach her,
but I simply don't know how.
Help me find the number please
is it listed under "Heaven"?
I can't read these big big words,
I am only seven.
I'm sorry operator, ,
I didn't mean to make you cry,
Is your tummy hurting too?
or is there something in your eye?
If I call my church maybe they will know.
Mommy said when we need help
that's where we should go.
I found the number to my church
tacked up on the wall.
Thank you operator,
I'll give them a call.
"Does Heaven Have A Phone Number?" (Anonymous) is about a young child whose mother has died. The child needs to reach her, but does not know how. The child calls the operator for help. The child does not know where Heaven is, or why his/her mother is there. The child needs her RIGHT AWAY so he/she decides to call her at Heaven. The child remembers his/her mother telling him/her that if he/she is ever in trouble he/she should call the church for help.

I recited this piece for a speech competition a few years ago. I everybody in the room speechless and in tears. I hope whoever reads this will be as moved as I am!

Enjoy!

When my eyes feel heavy and my head does too
Why does my brain keep dragging me along
This night that seems so long
Knowing that tomorrow will feel longer
I'll just take my tea a bit stronger

We are** the poets
We bring light to the dark
although we know that darkness can be shiveringly beautiful too
We write poems..what else would you do?

We arent checking facebook for every poke
Or or youtube for every joke

All we have is crisp paper and our favourite pen
and we rhyme over and over and over and over again!!

Is there a kiss for every tear
Is there a happy ending for every fear
Is there laughter for every cry
Is there a prayer for all who died

Is there somebody for everybody to love
Is there somebody for me to love
Is there a ewe for every ram
Is there turkey for every ham
Who loved the turkey when he died
Who kissed the ram when he cried

The thing is 100 kisses won't get rid of all the tears
100 hugs won't make you smile my dear
There are plenty of fish in the sea
But i'm deep in the country
Drowning the tears
while the fish need water to survive
I don't need either do I..?

When** sleep won't reach you
The night tries to teach you
How much you really appreciate
The sounds that your family makes
They fill up the empty spaces
in my heart and the house
So that i'm not left with only my broken heart and the company of a mouse

The silence seems to scream
which makes me want to
anything to make me feel less alone
Any noise, a snore or a groan

Would be better than this
Will i wake them if i ****..?
These middle of the night poems mightn't sound so great in the morning so sorry if you took the time to read this..<3 bolddddd

Jane Doe
What if we were born as blobs
Shapeless
Grey
Nothingness
What if as we grew
Our personalities colored our bodies
Our thoughts shaped our form
Our dreams grew our hair
Crazy and curly
Relaxed and straight
Far reaching and long
Down to earth and short
Our aspirations and desires determined our eye color
So that when you looked into someones eyes
You saw what was truly there
You could see people for how beautiful they truly were
No more hiding
No more shame
Simple and pure
Truth
When your dreams were kicked down
When you were wounded
When you were lost
It formed scars on your body
Badges of honor
To be displayed proudly
Saying that you have lived
You have embraced the possibility of defeat
And continued on in defiance
So that when you looked at someone
You had to take it upon yourself
To study their scars
And accept their dreams
Without question
Without doubt
And they'd do the same for you
