It was
the shortest breath ever taken
The longest night prevailed
I gathered up all
my wintered thoughts
I would send
them all back down to Hell

To Whom :
I'm not concerned
666 Hades Street
on the Rue
Enclosed for your inspection
Every sin and all insanity ,
everything that you made me do

I know I must
accept the credit
I spent every last dime of mine
Now I feed the pigs of others
eating much better
while on the inside
I'm slowly dying

But you better now
be some wary
The sun shall also rise
All of the time
that I have squandered
will be responding
In this cold crystal air

So I step forward
Into the eternity of today
I'm leaving for my home
So many miles away
I will beg of my father
for forgiveness
I already know what he'll say
4:44 a.m. December 21 , 2016 . The shortest day of the year .

That Night…

That certain night I came to him with reverence
And I was like a goddess and he the worshipper
I accepted his offerings of passion not because
He was the sole pilgrim to my pantheon of love
But since I heard his supplications to cherish me.

My tears mingled with his just like our ardor in a cup
And we will drink it for many days and nights later
My soul and his were in cased in a time capsule
That both of us could easily open in the far future
To fill the lonely winter nights to balance our sanity.

Then I started to wish that summer would never cease
But the leaves started to fall hard just like my dreams
As I looked at him packing his things the next morn
He said farewell and went to war and to his people
But at least I was…

A goddess that night and my enemy was my devotee.
I was sorting and re-reading some of my contest pieces (short story) and a couple of sentences in "He was mine during Summer" caught my attention.

Although I didn't win (I just dabble at short stories just like my poems haha), I found it intriguing to make some of the sentences used in that story into a poem.

~

her stealthy cold awaits,
her legs are gathered ’neath,
and in bitter gusts she crouches,
waiting...
as innocent i venture out;
and as i step outside the door,
she pounces on my frame,
nearly knocks me to the ground.
she begins in subtle nibbles,
biting sharp at ears and cheeks;
and then deep her fangs sink in,
to draw my unsuspecting warmth.
my bones she chills;
my blood is curdled,
swiftly rising to the skin;
my eyes are robbed of any tears,
my gasping breath she steals,
to leave a burning in my throat;
my fingers and my toes slowly
lose their fight to feel,
and though around my neck,
is wrapped a scarf to shield
her bitter cutting wind,
my chest is filled
with winter’s frosty grip.
my hands begin to fumble,
my thighs and calves draw tight,
my feet begin to stumble,
to outrun her breath i try;
but fast in winter’s grasp,
this terror has an edge;
a sharpened knife she holds,
hard against unwitting skin.
no match for she am i,
her ruthless ways,
have all but won this round;
’til then my feet find footing,
and up the stair i fly,
my hand upon the latch,
i hurl my frame inside;
and as i slam the door behind,
her icy voice, i hear it rise,
high above her roar outside,
"next time, lover,
i will win;
i will make you mine!"

*post script.

brrrrrrr... few things i hate,
but this for sure,
her biting cold i do despise.

Five little flowers growing
In a row
The first one said
I am purple you know
The second one said
I'm pink as pink can be
The third one said
I'm blue like the sea
The fourth one said
I'm a  very red flower
The fifth one said
My color is yellow
Then out came the sun
Big and bright
And five little flowers smiled in delight
