As the rising morning sun
shines its immaculate rays
on a field of sunflowers
these flowers , they awaken
from their nocturnal slumber
and ever so slowly
they spread their petals
and gaze upon the Sun

For in the Sun
they found an eternal source
of life , hope and warmth
And just like the Sun
will my soul tirelessly
shine upon hers forever
giving life , love and warmth
to this Sunflower , deeply rooted
within the crevices of my heart

I go outside and see
the birds and the bees
Listen to the wisping wind
and whispering of the trees

Open up my eyes
and let my mind begin to bleed
out through my skull
and into everything

Look up, watch the clouds drift by
and feel the passing breeze
and as my head’s becoming light
I see the sun begin to blink

Everything’s alive
and It is breathing rhythmically
I leave the cave behind
To exhume the world from in my dreams

If I could love, I would take the best of marble and dove,
And craft her eyes like inlaid tombs in stone skyward flight.
Just so, the Egyptian khamsin wind, by way of Rhodes,
Alights with evenness on the trullo stone of Alberobello.
Just so, the weighing of the heart lies between marble and dove.
The weighing of the heart was part of the final judgement in the Egyptian journey to the afterlife where one’s deeds were weighed against the feather of the goddess Maat to determine if life had been honorable.

My Dear Poet
A blind woman gave birth
to the most beautiful girl
on earth

She could feel her heart beat
but could never see her face

She could touch her hand
but never saw her
eyes of grace

She could smell her skin
but never seen
her smiling

a beautiful blind woman bore
the most beautiful woman on earth
who saw her mother more

than just with eyes and all their worth

Existence is surrender.
Resistance is surrender.

As all is meant to be,
because it is.

You cannot resist what is.
To resist is meant to be.

To resist is what is.
To resist is to surrender.

Billowing,
in ethereal winds,
untethered from my earthly coil.
I am cloud bursts
in concentric separation:
gossamer pulsation.

Suspended
in heaven’s piercing light,
dissipating as I capitulate,
unfurling in my flight;
to coalesce and integrate
with this splendiferous bright.

Heave, I, immense a zephyr,
pressing mine unto the grand expanse;
entranced by all that’s shifting
on the likeness of all, being,
wherein heartstrings resonate
with the vibrations of creation.

There is a certain comfort
in the sound of trees
dancing in the breeze,
mingling their leaves,
stuck in the ground
but tasting
what it means to be free.

Where am I? Who am I? Why am I?

Sol. Soul. Sole.
