Low
Katherine Hart Aug 2015
Low
Have you ever seen a man
Whose eyes are gray and dead
Like his age is bigger for ten
And there is nothing for him ahead

Was there ever a girl your age
Outside cheerful, but broken instead
Her life had reached its final page
Waiting for the demons, lying in her bed

I know you must have seen someone
Who was trying to push through hell
Who was so close to being done
Seeing no way to make it well

What have you done, did you try at all?
Did you offer your hand or help that they sought?
Was there anything you did to prevent their fall
To help them win the battles that they fought?

I see you are silent, I know what it means
It's not like you care when it's not about you
But trust me, you have no idea how it feels
When no one's there to help but you need them to
A song inspired by many stories I've read about people who had no one to help them when they needed them to.

When they come for me, don't make a sound.
Don't try to keep them away, don't lead them around.
Let them take me, I'll be alright,
just hide somewhere and watch from the height.

When they come for me, let them be.
I know it hurts but I don't want you to see
the way my heart hurts and my skin burns
and how the world around me starts to turn.

When they come for me, just stay away.
I know everything looks bad and gray
but after the rain comes the sun
and the world once again turns into fun.

When they come for me, I hope you'll know
how much I love you and your glow
that can make my hear swell with pride
because I know you're always by my side.

When they come for me, I won't be sad
Because I'm happy for all that I had.
The love that we shared kept me from becoming mad
so when they come for me, it won't be that bad.
