"nakupenda" poems
He said, to be with you beside you, having you carry my seed would have been the honor Watching you, exist with me inside of you, you don't understand They'll never understand…….you, how much I feel for you You are three ladies in one, many days an less nights An African goddess, you hold moons, your eyes……I cannot bear to look into **** looking into them eyes of yours is like looking at a thousand fireflies in harmony In agreement with this mere in me that we beheld beautiful He said, turn around and face me Let the stars pause in their quest, moons behold you Let dawn make her entrance earlier and still she won't come close  to you, no she cannot compete Nothing comes close to you…….no…….nothing For you hold more grace and class than any other creature thats walked the face of the earth See you have this pride, this je se nais quoi that no one else possesses when I see you…. Ladies and gentleman I stood there knees shaking, heart pounding This man knew how to string words, to pick em like one would pick a rose come to me present them an say these I picked for you, they remind me of you, for like them you are forever He knew how to cater sweet poetry to a woman I blushed Studying the art in his gaze, he took a breathe He said, how many times must I tell you, kissing you, holding you is like that of a rose it lingers, stays with me, keeps me wide awake I am more aware of you, your presence, your existence more than I have been of any other woman You are bone of my bones, flesh of my flesh my Eve, my Rachel, my Rebecca Mother of my offspring, lover of my soul, Nakupenda milele no words

My baby sings to me sometimes A gift of wind from her lungs. Giving up the thing they love the most. She explains to me “Mpenzi, wakati mwingine inabidi tujitoe sadaka” Meaning “My love, sometimes we have to sacrifice” I know the tale more than most. My mother was a sun too in love with the stars so she gave us some of her bright and sat on the throne of the moon, watching us shine on the midnight of her skin. My baby sings to me sometimes Songs about trees, but not the brown of the branches but the dark of her roots, the basin of her belly where her pride comes from. Just like that of her mother and her mother before her. “Umekula leo?” “Have you eaten today?”, “because it is the nature of my hands to care for your body, and the nature of my heart to care for your soul”. My baby sings to me sometimes She hums “lala salama” like a ritual to chase away night mares. She whispers “nakupenda” like she doesn't trust her lips to say what her heart means. And she sings, like only queens do, like only dreams do. My love, I have gathered your voice in the desert of my favourite memories, and yours is the background music to everything good that has ever happened to me. So sell me your whisper, and hum me a song about stars and midnight and moons that used to be suns. And I will pay the price, I will peel the skin from my secrets and show you all the parts of me where I hide God. Because wakati mwingine inabidi tujitoe sadaka, but most times we don’t.

I'm going to give you the best answer you've never had to all the questions you never ask Nakupenda Your legacy is unwritten which means it is untold remain silent until it is worth speaking of truth-full-y I see you the way a mirror see's itself encompassed by its purpose forgetting its worth seeing not just using to be seen into There is a lot of love in the world of a loveless people There is a lot to be seen thru a faceless peep hole Keep that key and the spare on stand by Stand by until you don't need to open doors sparingly Be strong Insecurities don't compromise beauty beauty compromises insecurities A conflict worth sorting out Speak to yourself more than you are spoken about Trace the lines of your hand don't memorize them but forget not the familiarity Never get lost in the lines of another Always find your way back home There is no place quite like you

Upendo
Je,ni jahannamu kwa nani Nakupenda hata wakati unaniumiza Tuli kuwa na kila mmoja Lakini tulipoteana Na sasa ninakutafuta Lakini hutaki kupatikana
