Medgar Wiley Evers, a name strong and powerful
The college, a mission of knowledge, Understanding and Education excellence
The beauty of essence
CUNY Medgar Evers College being my discovery
Yes this is the story
Medgar Evers College showed me the way in being the person I was seeking and supposed to be
I became the graduate the world did see
I was a truly believer in Evers Teachings
It was the transformation enhancement of the Medgar Evers College uplift
Coming to Medgar Evers College was the balance of what can be achieved and the offset of Social Justice
I learned knowing where I belong
Being prepared for the challenge in getting along
Yet, Medgar Evers College enriched my educational soul like an upgraded electronic component
Stand on purpose with a mission in mine
Set the standards while drawing the line
The discovery of Medgar Evers College was my own exploration
I was on the launching pad, but aimed with the foundation of learning being success
Being my MEC alumni was my honor and privilege of appreciation
Many said I was not college material
But Medgar Evers College changed that into “I was Capable”
Destiny was in my corner because of Medgar Evers College efforts
So Medgar Evers College fulfilled me in being one of their many products for success and beyond
Words can be expressed, but understanding must be an answer. Medgar Evers College showed my own elevation into education as an open door. I entered and was enriched with instilling self-esteem in every way. Medgar Evers College objective was my take away of always remember and don’t forget.”

It was the 46th Commencement at CUNY MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE
I graduated in the year 1981 and I am an ALUMNI
How times flies oh my
I was a treated like a VIP throughout
Reserved seating in what I am talking about
All the Speakers and Keynote Speaker had inspiration to shout
The graduates where given encouragement going beyond
Medgar Wiley Evers legacy to look upon
Inspiration to step out and let your involvement take flight
You got the education, but don’t sit back and take it light
CUNY MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE is on the move
Pure academics CUNY MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE will continue to prove
The history the college has maintained
In my heart the legacy will remain
Being an ALUMNI thought, I am part of CUNY MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE’S HISTORY
A part of the vision is that all graduates will accomplish
They came from a college that is very distinguished
But the college is continuing to be on the move
A New School being Urban Development
So MEDGAR WILEY EVERS is looking down and feeling proud
His spirit feels the welcome and his honor allowed
I was moved in seeing all the graduates
A tear came to my eye
I see a question being why?
It was for sadness, but joy in seeing the Men and Women achieving, and I was so proud
CUNY MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE, you did it again
Another group of graduates with concentration being CUNY Medgar Evers College to mention
Now wait for new Freshmen again, and another graduating class having a future commencement that will begin
Carry on CUNY MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE
Lift every voice and sing, but always remember one thing
“Your voice has a choice, but footsteps always need movement. Be assured with confidence. Have no fear as the Lord is always near. Medgar Wiley Evers legacy left his vision that will help you preserver”.

The man being Medgar Wiley Evers
His voice with Civil Rights Decree
It was Civil Rights awareness to the world to see
Medgar Evers being of outraged spoken words
Truth in needing to heard
His philosophy extending into expression becoming a lesson
But let me relate to Medgar Evers in education
I had the honor, privilege and opportunity to attend CUNY MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE
The principles with Civil Rights concentrating on education being a Constitutional right
The message being “Higher Learning in Excel at any Race”

Meet education face to face
Don’t let your mind just go to waste
Gold is only a camouflage shine
What’s true within the heart having determination and desire in helping others regardless of race in bringing out one’s true potential in looking beyond the color of one’s skin
This is not something accidental
It is not something seasonal
It’s a chosen right
This was the reason in the Civil Rights fight
Medgar Evers saw the flaw in American’s thinking
He was compelled to shout out
It didn’t matter being just like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr if Death would be involved
This was Medgar Evers in seeing that Civil Rights needing a resolve

But it required Unity by all in being involved
An empty plate makes one hungry, and an empty glass makes one thirsty
But when you add the food it becomes the fulfillment, and in a task if what already will be accomplished
Civil Rights was a mission that Medgar Evers wanted to face
Medgar was determined that he wasn’t going to let America just let it erase
It wasn’t a Black nor White issue but equality in all races being justified
I had the pleasure to see the Medgar Evers Family personally up close and personal

Now Medgar Evers was a World War II Veteran
Field Secretary for the NAACP
Former Soldier Medgar Evers is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia
Honor and dignity with a stance of salute
A quote being Medgar Evers personal words, “You can **** a man, but you can’t **** an Idea”
It’s about establishment with a fight that shall continue even today 2019.

The chapters with the scene in the South
Civil rights outcry contesting with the mouth
Fighting for racial boundaries
Foes wanted to take away
But a man so mighty, but continuing struggles not on this day
Medgar Evers being an educated man, but education entitled in being anyone’s right
But there was no time to sit and just be polite
Medgar Evers being a man that saw Justice in not being right
Yet deep in Medgar Evers heart, he saw struggles in equality being a plight
Eyes of the world looked on
Opposition within negative felt equality didn’t belong
There was a sense in the air that separation needed to be in place
But Medgar Evers was determined it would be erased
But this rattled Medgar Evers mind
Why was hatred so sublime in racism being blocked like window blinds
Even after Medgar Evers was assassinated
Investigations upon investigations were never really complete
Justice in answered continued chapters was full of deceit
There were very questionable statements
But all kinds of thoughts that continued to go on
However no credible sources precise
But there was a break in the case
In between sentences being an absolute cover up waste
The novel shed lights into delights
Plights open with a new spotlight
Evidence that was definitely overlooked
Someone was adding the facts in aiding the crooks
Medgar Evers being a man that shouted out to the world
But it caught the attention of the media, as facts were looked into further with surprising results
But the aftermath of the novel made foes and righteous hearts swirl
Medgar Evers motto, “Stand up for what’s right, but never settle for wrongful acts”.

A man who was involved in the Civil Rights Movement
A race against struggles with time
Fire and Beatings of opposition foes
It was be on defense or lose your toes
Medgar Evers being an educated man
His name and accomplishments known throughout the land
His voice being the statement of what society wants to label
But what theory of opposition is truly brought too the table
A taste of race feeling displaced and how long of the movement that will continue in the race
Medgar Evers and family house was once bombed
This set the situation in being harm
Medgar Evers was the utmost of dignity and recognition
It was a narrow escape being precision
One’s words being a multitude of several
One’s heart being a commitment too many
One’s desire to represent from start to finish
His introduction turning into a bow of finale
His life being distinguished
No matter if a man was shot down
The fight is on to continue in keeping Civil Rights sound
Medgar Evers College, a unit of City University of New York
An educational institution I am proud to say
It was where I graduated back in the day
Legacy history being part of my life
Inspiration to move forward being Medgar Ever’s advice
“Expel into explore, your shout outs that shouldn’t be ignored, but align at the bulls eye and ask many questions of why, and being idealistic in every try”.

Many doubters said I wouldn’t be
But CUNY Medgar Evers College we shall see
I was educated in being a commodity
The lectures with theories of actual life reality
CUNY Medgar Evers College instilled “Precision”
Thinking strategy and reason all under my decision
I became a believer of myself
I don’t think like everybody else
CUNY Medgar Evers College saw my distant horizon
They saw my efforts of being successful being yonder
It makes all the doubters wonder
But it gives CUNY Medgar Evers College the honor
They have a familiar name with a distinguished face
It’s all rounded at a time of the Civil Rights race
It’s Medgar Evers College in taking its place
It’s my own honor in being educated that no one can erase
A trace of philosophy and being prepared
Business world, this is an achiever who is stating a knowledge mode, but establishing a voice in knowing I should be heard
Many thought I would never go through
Doubters tried all kinds of negativity they could do
CUNY Medgar Evers College helped me to ignore
Prosperity is much to explore
My alma mater of CUNY Medgar Evers College
They showed me I am everything I was trained to be
I continue to be ready for all to see
But I want to remind all came from thee.

He was born July 2, 1925,
son of James and Jesse Evers,
Medgar Evers of Mississippi,
World War II veteran,
fought in the Battle of Normandy,
June 1944,
with his soldier brothers
of same and other races.

He rose a leader,
a Freedom Hero,
Mississippi field secretary of NAACP,
President, Regional Council of
***** Leaders,
husband of Myrlie, her purity
of devotion,
father of Darrell, Reena Denise,
and James,
civil rights leadership of the
highest calling,
of a bravery that persevered
again.

That early morning,
June 12, 1963,
a shot of hate tore
through his heart,
he was fallen in his own driveway,
his family witnessed this
most heinous of murders
committed in the insanity
of human acridity,
the bitterness in our psyches.

June 19, 1963,
full military honors,
Arlington National Cemetery,
for a man of a character so
much more loving
than his assassin's.

We, as a people,
we must obliterate
pre-conceived assumptions,
faulty thoughts of each other.

Medgar Evers of Mississippi,
Medgar Evers of America,
posthumously awarded the
Spingarn Medal,
murdered in a country
he fought for,
merited eternally by God.

Honest and true
Alumni who always pursue
I will never forget my education and Degree from CUNY Medgar Evers College
I graduated many years ago
I just want you to know
I wasn’t sure what to expect
I knew it would be Theory, Concepts and Analysis
Medgar Evers College taught me always be determined and you will have a following
For me, it was intervention
For that, it is appreciation
College classes that offered insights
The Professors would often encourage me directly and say, “You will make it”
There were times doubt entered my mind
Yet assurance came directly through my professors
They saw in me which I didn’t see in myself
Trial and error approach
When it came to Midterms and Final exams, I didn’t panic, I simply studied in preparation and buckled down
The advice I offer to all incoming college students, “Nothing in life is easy, but challenging your own mind in what is to come is education and your own success story that will follow”
Medgar Evers College instilled that approach in me
Business and people that I have connected often say, “Well done Medgar Evers College and breeding one of your products”
Becoming the product, I became my own success story in confessing
My accomplishment can support that
My tomorrow is every day
My today is a preparation that was the beginning from the start with what was coming next
What matters is knowledge
What comes out being educated
CUNY Medgar Evers College did both
What you are reading didn’t happen by chance
Purpose and privilege
Standing on my own principles and standards
Expectations my grasp
The Medgar Evers College embodied spirit within
Medgar Wiley Evers which the college is named after
“Be determined while being successful”

Guns and more guns need to be put down
Bullets should be replaced with education being the sound
It’s time to become a success
Yet it’s up to our young people to put that to the test
Their testimony surrounding confess
Everyone has capabilities to learn
However, one must adapt to theories forming concepts
Imagine having a college degree for all to see
Having confident being your own decree
The movement of action in making education what it should be
A mind is a terrible thing to waste
But the key is to make education your base
Former President Barack Obama had the right idea, “You Can”
But the new continued motto, “You shall Until”
A young man at a United ***** College Fund Raiser said this vital point, “Blacker the college Sweeter the education”
Education being the unity, but bring back to the community
Determination in step out and explore
Seeing one’s horizon but beyond the shore
A college education is an opportunity being a chance
Knowing the theories is how one will advance
Higher Education means being one step ahead
But the opposition wants minds to be misled
Prove to yourself what education can do for you
It’s a journey being a must to go through
Achievers such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Medgar Evers, Dr. Maya Angelou and scores of others
They instilled the passion in how to achieve, and determined education was what they were going to receive
They were ready no matter what
Fasten your educational seat belt as you will be taking off into Higher Learning Institutions in education beyond measure
Education is, but hold tight to the learning saddle
It might seem like a battle
But the end rewards is succeed
Slavery that was while be came destined for education now
One word leads to a complete sentence
One’s thoughts illustrates the understanding
Adaptability of the concepts gained
Long lasting knowledge is what will remain
UNCF philosophy, “A mind is a terrible thing to waste”
But the mind must be ready to spiral and absorb
But education and knowledge work all accord.

I had famous legacies from education and experience which some these achievers can be found in history books
But let’s take a closer look
For starters, it was my time attending CUNY MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE, my library Supervisor was Leola Maddox, Wife of Alton Maddox, the famous Lawyer in the Tawana Brawley Case in 1987
Also at CUNY MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE, I had the honor and pleasure to have Professor Dr. Betty Shabazz, Widow of Malcolm X and she taught a Health and Wellness class
But I had Dr. Shabazz in the fall term that went fast
Now at the Greyhound Corporation, I had 3 Mentors, but one that was significant and his name was Joe Black, Vice President, but who also was the pitcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers and who played with Jackie Robinson
I still have the books that Mr. Black gave me in Achieving Worth Receiving
Now back to CUNY MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE, June 8, 2017 of the 46th COMMENCEMENT, I had the opportunity to see Medgar Evers Widow, Dr. Myrlie Evers, Daughter and Grandson. I witnessed former Secretary Of State, Hillary Clinton being the keynote speaker
Ken Webb, Formerly of KISS-FM Radio Host lectured at CUNY MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE as a Professor along with my Professor Dr. Mary Umolu in Radio Station Operations Production Programming
We move from the College to the Old New York Coliseum that was in Columbus Circle in New York City, and it was the New York Auto Show and this is where I met Jesse Owens, won numerous gold medals in the 1936 Summer Olympics. We talked briefly one on one
At Rockefeller Center, I bumped into Mr. David Rockefeller and we talked for 10 minutes one on one
I also met Ted Turner at CNN CENTER, Atlanta, and he gave us a talk in my tour group
I also shook hands with Cardinal Terrence Cooke on the steps of St. Patrick’s Cathedral as they were celebrating the Church’s Centennial
Met Movie Star David Hasselhoff of the Knight-Rider TV Series Fame as we talked directly at Universal Studios, Hollywood, California and also had conversation with KIT, the knight-Rider Car
Miracle on 34th Street I actually lived during the R.H. Macy & Co., Inc. and Gimbels era, but also extends into the TITANIC
I spoke to Arnold Schwarzzenger during his Bodybuilding Competing Days and Superstar Billy Graham of Wrestling
Dr. Hazel Duke of the NAACP New York Chapter preached at my Church
Eubie Blake, Famous Jazz Pianist/Composer is my Great Uncle and who is also in the Smithsonian ***** Museum in Washington, DC
There are a host more, but I leave it right there
Each star personality with qualities beyond compare
Reflection fitting any occasion
History being part of me
I shared because I wanted all to see.

I think on the strives our Black Ancestors made
It was a struggle to get done
Yet maneuvering and proving made their name among
Names that come to mind such as George Washington Carver, Medgar Wiley Evers, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jesse Owens, Joe Black, Jackie Robinson and the list goes on and on
So what makes their specific Black Achievers great?
It was their focus on achievement and continuing no matter what
It was their understanding
Their purpose being their own contribution
So have names on educational institutions for example, MEDGAR EVERS, CUNY MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE
I am proud to say, I am the product of CUNY Medgar Evers College embracing in the Medgar Evers Legacy
I was honored too be taught at CUNY Medgar Evers College by Dr. Betty Shabazz, Widow of MALCOLM X
I was inspired in her teachings and values
So Black History had and continues to be an impact on me
“To be a success, you must be taught in wisdom associating from the best”
That is my honest and true confess
But these say what is really in my heart
“Struggles are only preparations being what is expected in life. It comes with understanding in what knowledge provides. It comes with true meaning in believing, but with observation in listening”.

February being a yearly reminder of Afro-American achievement
It is also being the black pioneer’s commitment
Creations being actual experiments
Discovering knowledge and expanding their mind
Being successful with theory combined
The possibilities that actually became a reality
George Washington Carver in turning a peanut into oil
Eubie Blake, my Famous Great Uncle who was a Movie Star, Jazz Pianist, Composer and in 1985, a Broadway Play “Eubie” in his honor
Dr. Martin Luther King, Civil Rights fight for Equality in order that there would be liberty
Medgar Wiley Evers, a Civil Rights leader who fought for what was wrong in order for all to get along, and a college named after him called CUNY MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE
Malcolm X’s widow, Dr. Betty Shabazz, I had her as a Professor in a health class while I was attending CUNY Medgar Evers College
Joe Black, One of my Mentors who is deceased, was once a Pitcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers and later Vice President of Special Markets at the Greyhound Corporation
Ken Webb, Formerly Kiss-FM 98.7 Radio Personality Host in lecturing my Radio Production class in the fundamental of Radio Station Engineering at CUNY Medgar Evers College actual Radio Station
Zelma Lewis, Deceased Board of Education Music School Teacher and Professional Opera Singer.  I was exposed to Opera at 15 Years Old at the AMATO OPERA HOUSE
in the Bowery in downtown Manhattan. Ms. Lewis taught me the fundamentals of the Piano after hearing me play the ***** and Mr. Daniels being a Professional Pianist also taught me the Piano.
Charles Anthony Blake, my Grandfather, who taught me the elements of Typing and becoming intellectual in being college educated
My personal heroes in helping become a champion established in how I would succeed. Some were famous and some were not. Yet in their own right, it doesn’t matter as it is true Afro-American achievement that all provided in contributions in their own way and it’s their inspiration that carries me each and every day
They all are great in their own God given talents
They were nothing that I needed to be silent
Achievements made against all odds
Achieved in how and the remembrance being now.
Bull Connor,

But Bull Connor,
unlike the boy from Haarlem,
did not foresee
the raging torrents of history,

the crumbling walls

His decadent heroism
held no moral authority
to sustain
his ungodly labors.

His savage dogs,
hungry for meat,
bent on aggression
for a twisted masters bidding
were devoured
by the teeth
of a movement
hungry for justice.

His water cannons,
tiny water pistols,
******
into the mighty squalls
of a raging hurricane
that blew the stinking *****
back onto his face.

The weight of history
moves with the just.

Untruth,
arch rival of justice,
is blown away,
like an expired candle
snuffed out,
blessedly extinguished
from the first breath
of a glorious new day.

Bull Connor
doesn’t rest in peace.

He stands on
the other side of the river.

He is the rich man
driven by
insane thirst
begging for water

Bull Connor
looks across
the chasm of fire
he knows
he'll never bridge.

Medgar Evers

collecting tolls
for a heavenly passage
from the wages he earned

with outstretched palms.

The dream

Remember- Martin Luther King-

"Let freedom ring"
He grace the world with a vision.
"Free at last"
He sang of the goal to the crowd

Remember -Agathe Uwilingiyimana -

The "content of our character"
Has come to judgment
But these character are just fools on a stage

Remember -Abraham Lincoln-

King's dream would come to a peak
But 2chainz, kim, minaj  TO and those unlike him
Would push it over and watch it crash on the buffs below

Remember -Medgar Evers-

Even Langston, wondered "what is a dream differed?"
Mahalia Jackson screamed for Martin to "tell em bout the dream"
But as Marvin proclaimed "we still don't know what's going"

Remember -John Fitzgerald Kennedy-

Obama made it in but the walls of the house he resides are far from the gleaming white it claims to be.
Blackened by the administration before him, the walls just too dingy to overlook

Remember -Fred Hampton-

He said "america gave us a bad check" and the march to washington would be how its cashed.
We all saw Barak at the teller endorsing but in the end the long fall of that tall horse was the goal of the fairest man.

He wanted every valley exalted.
Instead ******* God father pizza man makes a fool of the process, and a kid with a hoodie take the hit, just like Emmit Till, a school full of babies take the hit, Twin towers in new york takes the hit, theatre full of batman fans take the hit, but guess that's living the dream.

Remember- Harry and Hariette Moore-

Malcom says by any means
Even Jimi Hendrix sang for us to grab the machine guns
"Fight the power!" Be a public enemy. What ever happen to all that?
A fist in the air and a call for unity use to use to get us up in the morning
Now this ***** running around with a helmet and some horns telling these skanks he's the flavor of love.
Ya I'll pass on that
And go with the labor of love and survive with a better understanding of what life is.

Remember -Benazir Bhutto-

Mya Angelou was a ****, *******, stripper, and thief before she  new "why the cage bird sing"
Even today with all her enlightenment she ask where is Dr King's dream?

Humans have come so far so fast but judgment and common sense still elude our sophisticated lives. What once was a dream is indeed a reality to most but that's only because the play ignorance to the issues that still plague our nation and that dream we chase is littered with little nightmares.

Remember -Emmit Till-

Lincoln started the process J.F.K started the process, M.L.K. Preached the process, Medgar Evars tried to beat the process, Malcom X was betrayed for the process, Agathe Uwilingiyimana stood up for the process,Benazir Bhutto took a chance on the process,Fred Hampton died in the process,
Harry and Hariette Moore burned for the process,
Emmit Till was tortured in the process.
All believing the dream would see them survive.

My location in viewing was Regal Union Square in New York City
October 15, 2022
Mississippi was where the story took place
Medgar Evers on the case adding to the trace
It was injustice and hatred portrayed
The analogy of being black
The opposition in wanting black to take back
The movie was more than a flick
The lies told throughout that stuck
Anger with emotion
Cries feeling the pain of Emmett Till’s Mother
The open coffin of her son’s reality
The world saw and remembered
The lifeless body of Emmett Till
Justice wasn’t served
A mixed menu of what was not ordered
I held this movie close to my heart
Legacy influence from Thurgood Marshall and Civil Rights Leader, Medgar Wiley
Evers
There’s a connection, and I personally felt the experience of the movie throughout
I actually met the Medgar Evers Family, and I graduated from CUNY Medgar Evers College
This person is legacy as well, but wasn’t in the movie with a mention
I was lectured at CUNY MEC by Professor Dr. Betty Shabazz, Malcolm X’s Widow
Even though Miss Till loss the battle, she proved to the Racist world that Blacks have a Voice, Courageous, Determined and will not be still
The voices of reason will always shout out
Miss Till surpassed through the tribulations, Boundaries and Crossing Forbidden Lines
Yet, she held her dignity in honor of her son, Emmett Till
Miss Till was encouraged through the higher minds of legacy
She was guided by Heaven’s eyes
Pillar of Strength
All costs at every length
Emmett Till with smiles and joy
The train may have departed
The Sunrise and Sunset captures the paths taken
The world awakened
Emmett Till until
Everlasting
Spirit reigns
Emmett Till ranks

Keeping my legacy alive
Thinking on the Civil Rights fight and how it will be your strive
I faced struggles everywhere along the way
It’s opposition blocking every moment day
Even though I died in efforts
The mission of Civil Rights must continue on
It’s continuous regardless of how long
The Civil Rights fight must let the world continue to see
It’s Freedom for all including me
Don’t turn back and flee
Victory can be done
But it must be complete until we have won
Come together in unity
This goes for every U.S. city
Across the country into every community
Raise your Destiny fists up
Don’t tire and get fed up
Power to Dignity and Pride
This is a movement with no time to hide
Educate and use what knowledge will provide
Let your voices be heard in the fight
It’s the sunshine that has given us the light
We can’t sit back and let Civil Rights continue to be a plight
Show Washington, DC in plain sight
The sun has risen and tomorrow will be our guiding light.

Raised hands in dignity in might

Feel successful and accomplish
Put efforts in start to finish

It doesn’t matter what the past, it’s your contribution in life that will last
My honor being my birth
My creation coming on Earth
I am a person and not a token
If I don’t get respect, I have the right to be outspoken

Education no matter what the hour
Between the two Civil Leaders of Dr. Martin Luther King and Medgar Evers
taught me to analyze, inspire and achieve in my honor
My writing has inspired others
Encouragement being far more than just telling
Assurance established in persuasion
Inspired by two
Moving forward through

Lois Copeland, a longtime friend
It was her sincerity throughout until her end
I remember meeting her the first time at Medgar Evers College
Ms. Copeland’s distinguished personality is what comes to mine
It was her encouraging words in keeping in thine
We continued as friends even up to her death
A woman of wisdom being in her upper 80’s
Ms. Copeland often stated to me, “Go back to church”
She was my inspiration
A second Mom being the indication
In Lois eyes, life was worth living
Salvation was worth keeping
I often want to cry
But I know she would say, “Don’t weep in a try”
Ms. Copeland is saying, “Sorry I didn’t tell you I am going home”
But her advice to me, “I will never ever be alone”
She will be looking down from Heaven
I have gone back to church in her honor and mine
Lois there will always be a place in my heart
It will be your everlasting wisdom that will give me understanding in thinking smart
God has shared your spirit with me
It will be for the world to see
You have journeyed on
But you want all of us to remain strong
Heaven’s reward
The glorified sword
Sleep for everlasting
Your spirit forever embracing
Lois, Heavens gates await
As I continue to walk, I will not hesitate
Thank you for your spiritual love
I see you flying like God’s chosen Dove.

Dr. Betty Shabazz, Widom of Malcolm X
I had the honor and pleasure to have Dr. Shabazz as a Health Class Professor at
CUNY MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE in Brooklyn, New York
Dr. Shabazz, a name known throughout the world
Determined in all her pursuits
Civil Rights was a commitment alongside her alive husband then Malcolm X
Devotion in spirit in contributing change that followed Dr. Shabazz entire life
Being Black and a woman, but was standing for all women regardless of race
Achiever being a believer
Leader within her own right
Discrimination just made Dr. Shabazz more focused with a Civil Rights mission at hand
Dr. Shabazz wanted to break the chains of stereotypes and accept a person among those being a women
She observed in her eyes in what society was doing to all people of color
Dr. Shabazz educated herself through higher learning and worked within the Health Care Industry as an RN then as she worked became a Tenure Professor at CUNY Medgar Evers College
Because she was part of the Muhammad Faith didn’t make her commitment any easier, but more determined in the change movement of Civil Rights
Her detours were like she was drowning in a sea, but always managed to surface to the top in what Dr. Shabazz was determined to accomplish
Turmoil through the endless fires of her life
Malcolm X heritage was her base of encouragement
It didn’t matter he was deceased, the movement had to be pushed on
Destiny had to be fulfilled
Big step taking
Risk in having strong courage
The world had to understand
Dr. Betty Shabazz travelled the globe in making her agenda clear for Civil Rights change
She made numerous speeches in her own accord and her husband, Malcolm X
In his absence
Dr. Betty Shabazz proved to the world a women accomplish and establish being a women’s right in society
Dr. Betty Shabazz Principles for all women across the globe
She was even close to Coretta Scott King and teamed up together in letting Civil Rights continue to be known
My honor to recognize Dr. Betty Shabazz
Making an impact on my own life
Legacy her make
Understanding my start
Forward I go
Determined my flow
Dr. Betty Shabazz, Thank you for putting me in the know.

she does this while yelling,
just yelling,
and ululating into the courtyard below.
bellow.
saul bellow.
and martian heavy medgar evers.
close me in myself.
ready for a road trip.

manipulate your eigengrau,
be more uneasy with each passing millisecond spent in complete solitude with you yourself,
because nothing should scare you more than your mind alone with no hand clasped and anchoring you  to the edge of the pool.

you realize that you wake,
only to create beautiful lucid dreams for yourself and no one else.
For centuries I took on different monikers
Of what America has labelled me
If I was African in Europe or Spain
They won't say African-Spaniard or African-European they was just label me as a black person born in Spain or Europe
It would seem to fly in the face of this rhetorical statement that yet hasn't been evaluated
But only in America I have a certain label and class mostly because of a race
Check out the statistics
200 years ago I was called *****
50 years later I am called colored
50 years later I am called *****
25 years later I'm called black

25 years later I am called African American
This **** doesn't add up so I had
To re-add my history and subtract the *******
That's getting spit from.the pulpits
The pimps that is
They dipped there tongue in scorching sphere
Then say they are luminous in the atmosphere
A holy ghost more like a holy hoax
I been lied to about my history
The more I discover the more I recognized
That blacks the true lost Israelites
Have built American and formed pretty muxh every innovation you can think of
Not to mention the whites folks that only had the
Money and resources then take credit as there
Own plagiarism at its best
No offense to white folks
But truthful white folks know where I'm
Going with this
Racialist to divide races to keep one superior
And the other inferior
Strain sweat blood tears instill the deepest fears
For four hundred plus years
Can't even get an even score society to sore
When a black man rises he look upon as a terrorist
To the secret entities they lie within the government
Why did Hoover and his gang assasinated Malcolm X and Medgar Evers huh?? Where they that terrified
Of a rise of a Black.Nation??
So I'm.denouncing my citizen ship under the alias African American I'm a black Hebrew a stolen one at that lol

dabnagit  Travel back to before the nation began
and see Crispus Attucks killed — the
first American to die for American freedom, a freedom denied to his African and Native American forebears. Take a knee to honor his sacrifice and the other four dead.

Take a knee in grief that he who would become president minimized these first martyrs as "a motley rabble of saucy boys, negros and molattoes, Irish teagues and outlandish Jack Tarrs.”

Stand at Morris Island, South Carolina, where American soldiers fought to keep a young nation whole, a field of blue with 35 stars, not 22. Take a knee for the 54th Massachusetts Voluntary Infantry and its score killed at Fort Wagner, a hundred more presumed dead.

Take a knee in grief that the U.S. Army rescinded its promise of equality and paid the 54th little more than half a white soldier's monthly pay. Take a knee in awe at those who refused any pay that was less, yet died with "Massachusetts and Seven Dollars a Month!" on their lips, defending their white comrsdes' retreat.

Take a knee for Sgt. Medgar Evers, who defeated fascists at Normandy only to be killed by them once he was back home.

Take a knee from the suckerpunch by a U.S. senator from Mississippi in 1917, who said the return of black veterans would “inevitably lead to disaster.” Once you “impress the ***** with the fact that he is defending the flag” and “inflate his untutored soul with military airs,” it would be easy for him to conclude “his political rights must be respected.” Take a knee to honor those who died defending freedom. Take a knee to weep for the sharp rise in lynchings after both world wars — following the return of those impressed, untutored ***** souls inflated with military airs for having served.

Look at the lists, look at the videos, look at the witness testimony, look at the double standard: Amadou Diallo. Manuel Loggins Jr. Ronald Madison. Kendra James. Sean Bell. Eric Garner. Michael Brown. Alton Sterling. Philando Castile. (Take a knee; this could take awhile.) Akiel Denkins. Gregory Gunn. Samuel DuBose. Brendon Glenn. Freddie Gray. Natasha McKenna. Walter Scott. Christian Taylor. Ezell Ford. Akai Gurley. Laquan McDonald. (Take a breath.) Tamir Rice. Yvette Smith. Jamar Clark. Rekia Boyd. Shereese Francis. Ramarley Graham. LaTanya Haggerty. Margaret LaVerne Mitchell. And on and on. And on.

Take a knee for the unarmed, or subdued, or even fleeing men and women killed by officers pledged to protect and serve. Take a knee too for the officers killed by gun-toting gangsters…or by homeowners fearing a home invasion. While you're at it, take a knee for the more than 50 people killed every year by toddlers exercising their Second Amendment rights.

And take a knee for the soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines who died so that a football player can take a knee as long as some people are shot by police in the back, or even when down, or even after they're on their knees…while others for some reason are far less likely to be shot in the same circumstances. Take a knee, Rodin-like, and ponder why.

Take a knee and join those who are taking a knee out of respect not only for the flag, but for the republic for which it stands, one nation…

(Striving to be a more perfect union)

…under God…

(Who "created all men equal"; "male and female he created them.")

…indivisible…

("Build that wall!" "Lock her up!" "Fire the sons of ******* if they won't stand for this flag but run them over if they protest a rebel flag!")

…with liberty and justice for all lives can't matter unless black lives matter.

So for these all, and many more, take a knee. Take your time, but take some heart. Then lift each other up and lock your arms. Play ball.
Seriously, I have never seen comments on a poem on HP be more better thought out or literally more prescient or more in need of reposting!
Alumni approved. The title alone says a lot. I literally had the desire to go to college, but I had to persuade myself to do it. I didn’t think I had what it took for Higher Education. Back at Springfield Gardens High School, my Spanish Teacher told my Grandmother during parent night that I wasn’t college material. My Grandmother responded with “She was going to make me college material”. My Grandparents were from the very start. My Grandfather had practice Typing 4 hours every day straight. He also prepared me for what college learning would be like in demonstrating Lectures and Theories. It didn’t stop there, it was through the Dictionary and Thesaurus incorporating words into intellectual speaking language.

My Grandfather was strong on college education. He often said to me, “I don’t care what the other kids are doing as it is going to be college for me”. In September 1976 is my journey prospered at CUNY MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE in pursuing my own possible Degree with the thinking impossible. Everything was concept and theories just like what my Grandfather predicted. It was sit down taking notes and preparing for Midterms and Final exams. I was always the shy type, but through the CUNY MEC breakthrough, my opinionated triumphant prevailed.

MEC made me who I am today, and through my darkest moments working within the business market. Some might say they created the Monster in me, but I became an achiever. I excelled in numerous corporate responsibilities, and Typing proved helpful. I worked directly with the Hard Hitters and Movers and Shakers. My MEC years became effective, and always has a reflection back in how far I came through MEC. I was molded into who I was meant to be, and some of my Professor’s was my inspiration. Some of those Professors would often me encouragement. Now that I graduated from MEC as an Alumni, I encourage others in their own uphill climb to expectation. I am retired now, but keep myself active in WRITING/POETRY. I want to be an example of their fulfilling and willing at the same scope. I want to see and know their potential in able and always enable. My writing spoken words are all over the internet in different mediums. I am also involved in the Bus Industry with over 2,000+Toy Scale Model Buses. I have been recognized by Greyhound Bus Lines, Inc. in their Corporate magazine being a Photo and Feature. I have also received awards for my Poetry. My can do is a follow through. MEC made it happen. It started with desire, and teleported to my own frontier by achieving and always believing beyond the cloud of doubt.

It was Dr. Martin Luther King’s speech, “I have a dream”

His dream became my destiny in determination

It was let drive help me to follow through

Malcolm X

“By any means necessary”

Where there is determination, a destination must have a departure and arrival

The preparation in being ready to arrive with goals in mind

Medgar Wiley Evers

“You can **** a man, but you can’t **** a dream”

The whole concept is everlasting

You can **** a person, but reality of the dream can live on, and can come to the surface like a boat in a bottle

Dr. Betty Shabazz, Widow of Malcolm X

“I wish you success that equals your talent and determination”

I am an Alumni of CUNY Medgar Evers College, and had the honor and pleasure to have her teachings being one of my many Professors

To me, Talent and Determination must be a balanced scale of parallel in forming one’s true potential

In other words, where talent begins the journey, it’s determination that continues the journey into the everyday life cycle

To sum up entity, Dr. Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Medgar Evers and Dr. Betty Shabazz all offered me encouragement in achieving in life being their given right

A plight  might be considered a block, the theory is getting pass any boundary no matter what, but with solid thinking in getting around that road block of life

Knowledge is Power

Understanding is Golden

Achieving is Splendor

The Foundation having its own award and accord

Horizons too see, and objectives in sustaining what they should be.

I remember at CUNY Medgar Evers College, Ms. Morrison came to speak about her Novel, “TAR BABY”
I thought, distinction
Author, Philosopher and Motivator all rolled into one Toni Morrison
Endless writing days and nights
Ms. Morrison’s life filled with words
Stories to tell
Her stories hit home like a ringing of the bell
Throughout her stories were assertions of her beginnings
Her own words with a devoted mind
Ms. Morrison a commodity at will
But there’s more to Toni Morrison even still
She was as Philosopher within
Her words of inspiration sounding like musical instruments with a device tempo
Taking only brief pauses in making sure her words were actually being taken in
As a Novelist, Ms. Toni Morrison strived
She lived her dream to write
Ms. Toni Morrison creativity was like a river turning into a rushing flowing stream
It was her freshness having golden delight to intrigue
But it was Toni Morrison’s determination that told her to proceed
Ms. Morrison labored what she enjoyed and that was entertaining people through her writing and encouragement
Ms. Toni Morrison’s name will never be taken away
She is in Heaven and is simply ok
Until we meet again on the other side
Let my books and words continue to inspire
When questions are in doubt about you
Did you see what I have accomplished?
When answers become uncertain?
I am a believer in hope and my hope comes from a higher authority
Toni Morrison answered that call
Her legacy has been established for all.

Yes it was me at the mike
I was comfortable and not uptight
I Hosted “CAMPUS COMMUNICATORS”
A community outreach program at CUNY MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE putting the Tri-State community in the know
It was a script reading with a format in creating the show
My Engineer behind the electronic board
There were many activities announced we wanted the community to explore
It was an uptown feel
Later downtown being ideal
But it was radio being for real
No cassette tape moving like a reel
Excitement being just that
No regrets with nothing to take back
Hello Community, we are your Hosts and we bring you unity
We are here to make sure you get up, and keep your footsteps in precise
Get your day started and not thinking twice
I had a joke or two here and there
One joke I want to share
It was a past Thanksgiving feast, where a table that was all set up, but also the same table that almost fell down
I thought the good would be more in my lap
There was so much food on the table, it gave a sound finch in not another inch
I was live on the Radio at WMEC 1150 AM and WNYE-FM 91.5
Well that’s all the poetry for now
So keep writing with thinking while and how
Good Day from the Poet Mark
Make it a good start.

It was February 2, 2016 being my Birthday as I turned 59 years old
But my story will open in behold
Doctors said I would only live to the age of 7
Well, what do Doctors really know?
It only goes to show
God is truly in the know
But my story doesn’t surround my past history
It surrounds Lois Copeland who died last year at 86 years old
We met at CUNY Medgar Evers College
Lois who was distinguished friend and a Mother always to me
She always took me out for my Birthday every year
It was her friendship and Personality that always helped me to preserver
Lois was always full of surprises
Even though she is deceased, there was no exception in her feast
Last year, I still felt her presence
This year, I still felt her existence
The restaurant came out with a cheesecake with one blowing candle, and the entire restaurant staff sang “Happy Birthday to me”
All I could say, “Lois, you came through again”
This is my story being the end.
Yeah and words
Mean everything
**** the world
And the tunes they sing
Cuz things
Ain't the way it
Used to be
Friends turned foes
Enemies get exposed
By a dozen of
Bullet holes
Leave em to die
With dilated open eyes
No saprize
This world needs a baptism
Cuz we locked in
A locked in a spiritual
Prison no more realism
Everybody fake
Got the oppressed arguing
With the oppressed
And never obsessed
With the oppressor
I be the angry professor
Rushing at these *******
Plannin' my plot in the

Government I know ya fear me
Hear me
See me muggin' the news crews
Til they **** me no mercy
From **** yo family
I'm livin' on five strikes
With a hot Mic
Now every sucka wanna be like
Yosef causing terror
Though I'm a poetic terrorist

System death all them *******
In DC you see me in 5 D
Dimension my intention
Is to die with the world's
Deadly ambition wishin'
Upon a star that they far
Worse than Babylon
Did to Medgar Evers how can up I endeavor?
So much pain against thy
Membrane
Say we want peace
But all I see is war soar
Everyday they keep pushing tactics
Got us in a fit only for them to benefit
This world they build is gone crumble
Don't break the fight
Let em rumbleeeeee

It all started at 1330 Pacific Street
There I lived in a two family Brownstone that couldn’t be beat
Heat in the winter sometimes didn’t come through
But we had back up plans in knowing what to do
Yet it was home where I belonged
But my story I won’t prolong
The winters were hard to take
But living in Brooklyn, New York being the stake
The memorable moments was at holiday times when I had a ** Scale Baltimore & Ohio passenger train set that always went around our Christmas Tree along with the decorated lights for all to see
Christmas cards would be hung all on the wall
The Christmas tree would be stand tall
I was living with my Grandparents and we moved from Pacific Street to a high rise COOP
This is where I am still living today
This was when I was the age of 7
It was a place in making one feel like a living Heaven
I travelled Across Country on a Hound Bus in the United States, Canada and Mexico
But remember Greyhound’s past slogan, “Take the bus and avoid the fuss”
I got my taste of Entertainment
I appeared at the Valley Forge Entertainment Center
Being an Adventurer type, I ventured out on a canoe riding the Water Rapids in the Adirondacks in Upstate New York
Later I decided to do some Writing and be a Poet
My day as a Writer was ideas like a sunrise
My inspiration was days having surprises
Everyday I become more Wiser
My tomorrow will be a continued advancement of wisdom
My Grandparents instilled “Commodity into Excellence”
Educate my mind in becoming my own business success
I graduated from CUNY Medgar Evers College
If they were alive they could surely contest and a testimony of confess
All that is all part of me
But there is something else I want you all too see
I was almost at near Death at Birth
Doctors had given up hope
This was something where it became hard for my Mother and Grandparents to cope
I was suffering from Asthma, Yellow Jaundice and Malnutrition
My Mother was smoking while carrying me
But my Grandmother was a praying warrior and believed in God
She felt the Doctors didn’t consult God directly, but she did
Well my readers, God gave me continued life and I am 59 years old
In fact in February 2017, I will be 60 years old
So there’s my memoir
Life where living continues on
A place in life where I belong
Dignity and Honor all in my heart
It was my Grandparents being my very start
As I live on, I will continue to illustrate my life and leaving my legacy mark.

February is destinated as Black History Month
This is the time to think back on Afro-American strides
Innovations in they provide
It goes beyond the struggles of slavery
But what follows is pure bravery
Afro-Americans forefathers having the theory of understanding and devoted wit
Education was a solid it
Sunrise to sundown
Afro-Americans would often read a book when the Slave Master wasn’t around
There was reading being the sound
Sometimes Afro-Americans were caught
There were racial barriers becoming a fought
But through it all Afro-Americans saw
It was initiative seeing a wrong
There were many biblical songs
Yet it was a battle that lasted long or not
It was the opposition planning a plot
Afro-Americans were determined to be free
Eyes of Heaven Looked down and they were guided by Thee
Multitudes upon Multitudes
Oh the thought of solitude
It all surrounded by fate
Later came a constitution that ended the slave date
Afro-Americans were finally freed being the slate
What do Dr. Martin Luther King, Medgar Evers and Malcolm X have in common?
Plain and simple, Civil Rights and togetherness among all races of people
I wasn’t a simple matter
Yet there was plenty of negative shatter
But eyes were opened beyond the shades
It was not strides that were made
Afro-Americans contributed inventions upon inventions having a mention
George Washington Carver in the peanut for oil
That is just one, but there were numerous inventions from others
Even though the opposition said “NO”
Afro-Americans made their point being all systems go
Determination had an agenda of persuasion
Illustration was a call to order being participation
So young people today should always stride to educate themselves
This is their chance in opportunity and bringing forth unity
The young people are tomorrow’s future of presenting their own selves
Excel and acceleration being there tell
Their enthusiasm having a sell
However, I weep in my heart and soul
We seem to be going back in time
A venture with a sublime
However, my heart seems to bleed
Will Afro-Americans still be able to proceed?
What’s behind the door being an unknown?
Yet our legacy of the past gave us understanding being shown
However, we can’t just relish on the past, but I will leave that alone
Instead, we should move forward and take what we learned from the past and make it our future to extend on
We need to see the ocean beyond the shore
Yet venture out on the waters being our explore
Tomorrow is today
Whatever situation that comes our way, we are prepared, and that is ok
At least we can say, “Achievement will always stand regardless. There must be trust among us. Yesterday was only a reminder. But Afro-Americans have God in their corner”.

Who could forget the opening intro for Channel 5 10:00 PM NEWS, “Do you know where your children are?”
I knew where I was at home waiting for the 10:00 PM NEWS, and the image of the anchor Bill McCreary to speak
I was taking a Broadcast Journalism course at CUNY Hunter College
I witnessed first hand at Channel 5 Metromedia Television Station now known as FOX 5 Television Studio in New York City
My Hunter College class took part in the Live Studio Taping of the BILL BOBBS TALK SHOW
It was after the taping, I briefly spoke to Mr. Bill McCreary
How do I describe Bill McCreary, Professionalism and his words giving viewers his purpose in his stories
Mr. McCreary had explanations in what made his stories come to life
One particular news story was MALCOLM X, and Mr. McCreary had interviewed Dr. Betty Shabazz, widow of Malcolm X
I had the pleasure and honor to have Dr. Betty Shabazz as one of my Professors at CUNY Medgar Evers College, my Alma Mater
I hope you see a connection
Influence and assurance coming together
Tomorrow was more than a thought in reality
Mr. McCreary brought what could have been an Impossible Dream
He showed how opportunity can happen
So Mr. McCreary showed me I am the wonder within, but don’t look yonder, but look directly at your front door in possibilities
Let truth always be in our hearts, and honesty set the tone in meaning
My tomorrow came with understanding by the media eyes of one man being wise
Bill McCreary wants the world to remember him in his stance behind purpose
Reasoning having no doubt
Yet it was clear in being obvious
You don’t want the world to cry, but I am saddened
You will not be forgotten
Your Soul is my behold
Stand up and be bold
Heaven needed you, and you answered the call
The 10:00 PM Nightly News is missing a distinguished anchor
It’s you Mr. Bill McCreary
Every step I take will be an effort behind every inspiring try
It’s not goodbye, but until we meet again

This is all temporary, we are all temporary, this sun and my voice; they are all only here for the fragile concept of a moment. The only way we know how to defeat mortality is with the echo ringing in the pages of thought we can leave behind. Pieces of ourselves; like seeds.

Like, we are all fleshy sacks of bones on a tilted rotating elliptical hunk of rock hurtling in infinite space. Positioned just so that it isn't too hot and it isn't too cold. We're the luckiest children of our common ancestors to stand straight and have humility. The coincidences factoring into this second, here and now, are awesome, and nearly impossible.

Take a lesson from Medgar Evars wife and realize what she had to the hard way. Hate only hurts yourself, and that your enemies deserve the opposite of love: apathy.

Take a lesson from Johnathan Larson, the playwright of Rent, and know the opposite of war is not peace, but creation. Why do you think children and artists breathe hope into our every breath?

Take a lesson from the comedian Bo Burnham, and consider that maybe God does not believe in you, and that if life on Earth could be Heaven, isn't it worth a try?

I've found divinity in the good words of individuals since grade school. Comedians, writers, activists, victims, wise old cat lady neighbors. Humans all have a story to tell and we're all blessed with the ability to listen. To understand the fellow human is more powerful than the sun that brought us here.

We're all just a way of the universe to be able to understand itself, and we're all trying to understand our selves. Looks at these stars and see how infinite you are, how much family you have come from. God is inside all of us. Eyes like nebulas, like soul sisters. Brain cells like cathedral windows, we are divine by existence. Why would you ever exclude a single soul? To know all, to see all, God's omnipotence. Isn't that just another word for friendship?

Step back, look at this rock we all share, everything that has ever happened, every embarrassing moment you'll never forget, every first kiss, every marriage and divorce, every love lost and love found, every book and every comic happened right on that speck right there. Take notice, how borders can't be seen from space, how the only colors shining bright enough for space to see are blue and green. We are a family bound by this gravity and we all know how it get's us down.

We live united under these stars and these clouds. It is every humans responsibility to care for every death and every life and every injustice we face as Earthkind.

Be kind.

Be love.

Be divine.

Be poet.

Be human.

Meeting horizons beyond expectations
Extending into strides
Join me for Black History Month ride
A story of Afro-American contributes being the pioneers being a few in many such as DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR., MEDGAR EVERS, GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER, EUBIE BLAKE, JACKIE ROBINSON, JOE BLACK and numerous others

Let no question be why of I
Reach in extending your promise
Reach in knowing what one can achieve
Establish your right
Through understanding there is might
Use knowledge being learn
Encourage others being a concern
Let prosperity be on your lips
Think on what our Afro-American Pioneers accomplished and they are the tip
Grasp concepts where no one will dare
But you are you beyond compare
Challenge your own abilities
You will discover your own reality
Stand solid on your own ideas
But always think preserver
You are the yes and no
But pause analyzing although
Black History Month is too encourage all Afro-American Brothers and Sisters in what our forefathers can accomplish so shall we
My abilities tell me to reach
Aim for the horizon
Destiny my own journey
My Brothers and Sisters encourage me to continue move and be on the go
See me move and feel my flow
But odds say stand still
However, I can’t as it’s God’s will
God guided me to move and he is the bill
I say to all Reach, Reach, Reach Until you can no longer Reach any more
The key is the Reach in effort
As you are enriched in Faith
Time maybe ticking, but continue to reach until finished
Commitment and responsibility are all but remainders
You have the power to “REACH.

My voice my Demand
Standing for all
It seems, you wonder my words
I deserve to be heard
I am exercising my rights
Prepared for a fight
Your opposition like a violet storm
I am not alarmed, but will continue to push on
Dr. Martin Luther King, Medgar Evers, Congressmen John Roberts and many others who educated me
It’s knowledge that stood out
My reason for moving about
Beyond the shadows and into the marvelous light
Not frightened and shaken
I speak extensions
A presenter of persuasions
Words greater than anyone could imagine
Several letters at one time
Genuine
Truth is what I stand for
No hesitation
Representation
Marked because of my Race
Ran because of a Chase
Broken promises
Told numerous times, I nothing to offer
Prove you wrong
Destiny and Sincerity
My reality
Onward in forward
You say why do I live?
Privilege
Why do I stand?
Honor
All Grace and Mercy from God
Motivation keeps me inspired
Race barriers make me sick and tired
I will not stop and expire
I will pull through
Pursue
The battle in begun
Sustaining among
Never Ending fight

Fear not, but be courageous on
I see wisdom in the sunrise
Hope within the sundown
I hear cries for Justice
Shouts to end separation
Anguish through the struggles
I won’t turn back, I will move forward
The mission is onward
It’s the fight for Civil Rights
It was travels I am observed
Understanding helped me to be aware
Opposition upon Opposition just didn’t care
I the fight was going to be a long haul
It was Night and through Daylight
I stood on promise and being honest
I grew weary and felt tired
Civil Rights remained strong on mind in don’t let time expire
I encouraged people we must carry on
Chant after Chant, “We Shall Overcome”
I saw the image of God, and his words was, “KEEPING MOVING MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS”
Stay the course like I did going to the cross
Remember, I am Mighty and true
I am your victory, and you shall pursue
Dr. King maneuvered through those very words
Marching, Marching and Marching
Through Major Cities and Towns
Dr. King was like Moses to Freedom
But Dr. King’s mission was, “Recognize people with Dignity”
Every footstep was discerning
But sacrifice has its own story
However, God would provide the glory
A quote from Medgar Wiley Evers, “YOU CAN **** A MAN, BUT NOT A DREAM”
It was through Dr. King’s dream providing the determination that he shall not be moved
He was beaten and put in jail
This only added more mobility that transcended
It was time to March to WASHINGTON, DC
I heard the echoes of the song, “PRECIOUS LORD TAKE MY HAND”
But it established “Lead Me On”
Voices upon voices woke up Washington extending to the entire world
Racial Equality was an unjust
The moment of truth had come true
Victory was ever getting near
Opposition was focusing Hate into Fear
God made it all possible and worthwhile
That was the 1950’s and 1960’s
Peace became golden thereafter
The leader, Dr. Martin Luther King has been assassinated, but proved in his fight he intended to win
However, history seems to be reverting back where the fight for Freedom all began
Eye on Freedom and Voting in 2022
Voting rights are being attacked
Media has made it a fact
We can’t lose sight
Dr. Martin Luther King fulfilled to the world, “We are the Might”
It’s not about Black, Brown, White or any other nationality, it’s about coming together as one and respecting one another regardless
Dr. King loss his life
His words then and now would still be good advice
If Dr. King was alive today, he would say, ‘MOBILIZE MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS, STAND YOUR GROUND AND BRING PRINCIPLES TO THE SHORE, AND LET YOUR EYES BE LIKE AN LIGHTHOUSE IN ALWAYS BE ALERT AS TOMORROW WILL ARRIVE ONCE AGAIN”
Aim towards Freedom as I showed you the way
Never go astray
I am in Heaven, but my spirit will carry you every step of the way
You told us to stay United
Focus on Mission
Finish until done
Rest in Heavenly Peace, Dr. Martin Luther king

They killed John
and Bobby Kennedy too
And Dr, Martin Luther
Whom we all knew
And not to make it
Too complex
They killed Medgar Evers
And Malcom X

****** has been
The history
Of this country
And it’s plain to see
It’s no riddle
Or mystery
Why we have funerals
Consistently

So let’s not forget
Those frontier years
Remember Custer
And the Trail of Tears
The Ku Klux ****
Terrorizing our fears
With savage lynchings
And the crowd’s cheers

Eric Gardner and
George Floyd
Might have you thinkin’
I’m paranoid
But there were 70 others
Which makes that
Null and void
So to analyse it
Would take Sigmund Freud
