"heartthrobs" poems
Crushes always start of small and quiet.
Lovers muse of the spark from that first kiss.
The wild, untamed feelings cause a riot.
Salvos of love heard from heavens to abyss.
Love is tame like a zephyr through the trees.
Love radiates more than the sun in June.
The pod of love subsumes only two peas,
And over time, love will always prune.
Love is within a fine ring of crystal.
Love can be found amongst a lowly bar.
Real love can't start in front of a pistol,
But maybe by the strum of a guitar.
At the end of life, heartthrobs have brooded:
That true love can never be concluded.

what on earth is this feeling
(yellowing formaldehyde)
kind of like old heartbreak reeling
a vivisection, never healing
coat & spray on the insecticide
what on earth is this feeling
criminal butterflies stealing
the cogs & screws in my arthropod insides
kind of like old heartbreak reeling
heartthrobs come frenzied then unfeeling
my vague worries preside
what on earth is this feeling
whateverphobia; a personal ceramic ceiling
to myself, is how I've always lied
kind of like old heartbreak reeling
carcass littered webs are usually unappealing
my own web has much to elide
kind of like old heartbreak reeling
what on earth is this feeling

So many things to say.
Between the floods and raindrops,
pain and heartthrobs,
living for better, for worse,
for now,
for following through
on the sins we commit to.
Somehow
we expect to see light.
I can feel with my skin
but it's blistering,
I can't hear,
but I know you're not listening.
You'd be here
anon and otherwise
punctual.
Instead you're a societal gut-punch
who makes me puke.
Truthfully, I'd set camp come the dusk
where I knew I could feel the warmth
from your bridges burned.
Feel the light, dried and cracked.
Tell me what you learned.

Sadness. Anxiety. Anger
A flurry of emotions crosses your mind
You brick up a wall
You feint surprise
Your smile is fake
But one day
It will all come crashing down
Water floods
The dam breaks
And your heartthrobs
By the sound of an arrow puncturing the skin
The feeling of your mother's hand losing warmth
The sight of a cat bleeding out on the street
The memory of your dad calling your name
Slowly, one by one they go
Until you're finally left
With the words "I have something to tell you."

A shiny and tidy city
And a metropolitan highway
The mesmeric magnolia trees
The beautiful bogainvilleas
The fairy tales
Of heartthrobs
The romance
Between a dreamy damsel
And a good looking guy
The vanilla lifestyle of
The middle classes
The angels of mercy are sitting
In the balconies of the rich
The endless waiting for
The dawning of good fortune
Of the poor
Summer rain
Autumn winter
And spring
Change its grace
At night
It's decorated with
Fairy lights
Everyone
Is dazzled by its fascination
During day.
