"domesticus" poems
Gallus Gallus Domesticus
Uncourageous Uncourageous Coward-"icus"
These are the people we believe to possess high ideals.
So elite and luxurious,
so stainless and luscious.
All dressed in designers
with adorners.
Boundless extravagance
inspite our disacceptance,
yet in the face of danger
they would be the first to disappear.
But then, who are we to judge others
when we would equally do the same.
Out here,
in this place,
Its everyman or woman
for himself or herself.
Its you and i, all by ourself.

Oh my feline friends
they always choose me
I'm a sucker, yes sucker
for a little cute runt
In days gone by
from the silence of the lost
where no dark storms could enter
they were our brother and sisters
them you call felix domesticus
Only our echo locators hear them now
hear them in their misery .. going Meow
the poor ******** lost in time all because
all because they were kittens at heart

Your ubiquity in my memory
has led me to miss
the fact you are now missed
in the day-glo green-yellow
gardens of eighties summers,
scattering mother’s pride,
you were overlooked in the search
for brighter birds
with better song
so I try to cherish the
rattle and chatter
of your extended family
alongside me now
no songs for me
to join your mourning
but your chip-chip banter
tells a cautionary tale
I’ll do my best to listen and learn
even as our own gardens dwindle
