"demoralizes" poems
How can I live happily, When my mother constantly criticizes me, Refuses to admit when she is wrong, Rejects all of my friends. Calls me hurtful names, Under-estimates me, Invades my privacy, And demoralizes me?

True Love
This American life. This great life. Let's talk about great. This is a country where we love food, but one of our greatest dangers is obesity. Not violence, not sickness like cancer or AIDS or TB, but obesity. Self-induced, wanted, not-so-desperately needed. We **** people on sight because "he looked at me funny" and get away with it, but condemn the man who was protecting his family and for what? The color of his skin or the language of his homeland? Take your pick. Oh and there's tons more too. I was born in South Texas. I am an American citizen,, but my roots come from Mexico. I look like my people, I speak like them too, but when I went up North to New York, I felt that I wasn't wanted. I didn't belong. In the state of immigrants, in the land of aliens, because the Natives were kicked out long ago, I did not belong. Me! Whose ancestors had been here for centuries, whose people of South Texas have been here since before these "great states" were never great, I do not belong on this soil. God bless America. Did you know that in the U.S. of A you can sell ****** which demoralizes the "sacred communities of our homes", but two people of the same *** who love each other so deeply and passionately cannot marry for the simple fact that they will ruin our "traditional family values." Nothing is traditional anymore and by God nothing is valued. But **** this life. This American life. This great life. Not so great after all...

This American Life
Hidden emotions got you feeling captured Like a prisoner You are locked (in) (security) 25 to life, scared to face who you are supposed to be This fear rapes your sense of security As it Demoralizes your reality Scared to be free, so you face burglary Robbed of your deepest sense of emotions As your feelings drown deep in the ocean You are insecure about the way you       Talk           Walk                 Smile                      Look uncomfortable in your own skin so you wear a persona that fits another

(In) (security)
They warn you about heartbreak, love, pregnancy, std, failure. They warn you about drugs and alcohol but outcasts an issue that's major. Self-neglect , personality crisis. Why don't they warn you about the capabilities of losing yourself? Maintenance of good grades, fulfilling your parents wishes, studying to become something you're not even happy about. They do not warn you of the consistent mental breakdowns questioning yourself in doubt. Doubting if this is the correct path for you, doubting your purpose in life. It's a constant battle between your mind and what you truly desire. Yet the passion within you thats an array of fire, Shadows and demoralizes itself. The restless nights where my mind was a battlefield with constant chaos triggered my insecurities. Already an emotional wreck there I was losing my sanity because the bigger picture was oblivious and I couldn't see. Became so unconfident that my work ethic decreased due to my incapability of searching for me. Why didn't they tell you how hard you become on yourself? How your mind is your worst enemy and no one can help. That the only one that's degrading you is yourself. Then they persuade you to chose a field that makes money. They brainwash you into thinking your passion is inferior and belittle your struggles of doing what they demanded you to do. An outcry for help suppresses while pretending steps into the light. Persistently interrogated myself, "Who are you?" As I look at a reflection covered in incompetence and solicitude, "You are not defined by the comparison. You are not defined by their wishes. You are not defined by the ridiculed labels." You are what you truly aspired to be even if your aspiration is still uncertain. You pave the road of your happiness, of your dreams, of your passion. Aspire to become true to yourself because you hold the key to your future and that's the only thing that's certain. Just because it took you a longer time than others doesn't mean you didn't succeed. -dpk
