Her
Willard Wells Jul 2015
Her
Looking into her dark brown eyes,
Reflecting sunlight from the sky.
Glowing skin under shining orb.

To have her gaze upon me with her eyes,
So bright in this day's shining light.
As she steps close, her skin so soft.

I melt from her gaze,
As she takes my hand,
And we stroll along the boulevard.

Fleeting Moments
Willard Wells Jul 2015
Saying I love your touch

Showing I love your eyes.

Still I love your lips.

Silky I love your skin.

Stating you're my everything.

Showering you with  thank yous.

Standing up to say I love you.

Moments can be gone forever.
Never let that moment pass.
You'll bring happiness,
You'll bring joy.

A moment in time can change a life,
So never let that Fleeting Moment Pass.
I have reworked this a number of time. This is the final. Let me know what you think. this may just stink. I like the concept, but???

First Drought
Willard Wells Jul 2015
The elusive golden orb arises again,
In the land of clouds and rain.
The peasants gather to find water
And shelter from the evil demon light in the sky.

It's burned their crops,
And dried their land
Searching for relief and water wherever they can.
Starving and dying on a desolate earth.
Evolution of a drought, It's not new.

Meditation on Wheels
Willard Wells Jun 2015
Bicycling in the early morn,
Brings a smile to my face,
And happiness to my being.

My place of meditation,
A long and lonely road.
A place of solitude and peace.

Eyes open to the light of day.
Birds dancing on wings in the air,
Squirrels running and collecting their fare

Reflection on life as I roll down the road makes for a beautiful day!

Path of Life
Willard Wells Jun 2015
We hold them close,
As we give them life.
With the first breath of air,
And the scream of pain.

Then they grow up,
And oh so proud.
Looking to see how high
They can reach in the sky.

Along the way they find their path,
But you seem to be left behind.
Looking to see how far they reached,
As they waved goodbye.

Morning Scene
Willard Wells Jun 2015
Feeling the wind on my face
Walking in the morning sun
Greeting the neighbors,
With a hardy wave and have a good day..

Spring flowers are blooming
As the new buds appear on the trees.
Birds dancing about between branches
And squirrels run up the trunk to hide among the leaves.

Grass grows green on this spring day.
As the rainbow colored flowers make an array.
With bees gathering nectar to feed the queen
Oh what a day and a beautiful scene.

True Beauty
Willard Wells Jun 2015
There is far more to an individual than what you see.
Look to the beauty of your soul and heart,
Rather than the perceived vision you see of yourself in a mirror.

Do not allow the skewed visions of a media driven world,
To control your thoughts on beauty,
Which shines from your heart and soul.
Self image.

Happy Place
Willard Wells Jun 2015
As I inhale the vapors.
My mind becomes clear.
Well that may be the perception,
That I feel here.

With the noise subsiding,
Seems to slow down my ride.
I have more time to devote to myself.
Without the distractions attacking all the time.

Night Terror
Willard Wells Jun 2015
Night comes creeping with the gradual fading of light,
Slipping into the darkness of my mind as the light leaves the day.

Thoughts of what I have done up to this point put at bay.
What is to become of me in this life, I cannot be shaped like a piece of clay

Starting when young the treatments I learned
Attempting to control the active mind that runs my world.

Patience and control were not within my grasp.
Trying to slow the information that leaves me out of control.

Lack of control and hiding from much of life.
Fear to go out of my house whether day or night

Now becoming my prison I cannot get out
Sitting in my closet to limit my space to control

There is no end in sight and I see no light
Just the darkness within as the voices yell out more,

More Terror Tonight.
This is about many that have issues in life. My part of this is very small and I do see the light.

So Who Am I To Judge
Willard Wells Jun 2015
As the weeks have passed and the days grew short
I spent time thinking of father's day
My father, the relationship.

So, who am I to judge

I have never judged harshly, my father;
As I have grown old and been in that position,
It may be that I have failed too.

So, who am I to judge

There was never a manual
Our brains were not wired the same
The input as we grow and learn can be good and bad

So, who am I to judge

So as this day passes with no words
To come to me
from anyone in my past

So, who am I to judge

The day's not done
Hope reigns supreme
I am at peace with life

So, who am I to judge
day of reckoning

Shadow Passing
Willard Wells Jun 2015
Can you dry away the tears.
They are not planned,
But just appear.

A thought of the past,
Memory so vivid,
Suddenly emotions come forth.

Standing on a street corner,
Taking in the sites;
A shadow seems to cross your path.

Orifice sensations light you up.
Memories again renew your past.
You search around with your eyes.

Hoping to match senses again,
With memory of the past.
To feel that rush you had that did not last.

As you look left,
And then to the right, up ahead.
There's nothing in-sight.

But the memory is there though lost.
And will lay in wait in the dark.
So your heart can race again.

When again the shadow passes.

Out of Body
Willard Wells Jun 2015
Mind traveling low in the weeds,
Watching out for low flying objects.
As I may perceive
Do not run with sharp objects during this phase they say.

Danger can be lurking as the mind is on a different wave.
I do try to remember.
But sometimes the action is faster from one side
Than the other of my brain

Then the place where your body seems to be.
How did I arrive at this state or is it state of mind,
An illusion or reality.

Standing to the side looking in on this view,
Of a life which while appearing surreal;
I feel it is quite real and nice.
So I think I will keep it for the rest of my life.
How do you view where you are for now and going forward??

Mama's Boy
Willard Wells Jun 2015
To rise early and be bundled up
Still not really awake
As the car moves down the highway
The sun just rising over the eastern horizon

We have been on the road for two days
My father driving at a high rate of speed
Another adventure of travel
From where we are to where we've been

After a hour and miles behind
Breakfast to fuel the daily run
Towards the past and family pact
Annually we meet like a clan

As we arrive at the park
It's hugs all around
As brothers and sisters
Aunts and uncles

Gathering to see the family of their past
BBQ and potato salad
With bags full of chips
And soda for the kids and beer for adults

Kids running about playing games of tag
Throwing a Frisbee sometimes with dad
Lawn darts and softball
There were games to be had

The day comes to an end
And smiles all around from a great time
Then soon again we are back on the road
And the adventure begins anew

From where we had been
To where we are now
As the park fades away
And we have miles to go

Tears from my mother
As she relates her fears
Of how soon she will see
Her family and parents again

I sit there in silent sadness
As I see her face drawn
As the tears run down her cheeks
And so began my life as mama's boy
Travels as a child

A Man I Knew
Willard Wells Jun 2015
He was honest and loyal throughout his life
To family and friends plus stranger to boot

Grew up poor and so valued his life
Moving on to find his place in the world

From small town boy, to big city guy
He always kept his eye on the prize

He worked in the fields, then flipped burgers to learn
Before moving on to more adventures in life

He did love to gamble and did it for life
But everyone has to have some adventure rather than strife

Friends of my mother introduced them for dinner
And a romance was to be had far beyond the night

Marriage came next as he made her his wife
And they started an adventure as they planned their life

From state to state they chased the work
Farm work to pipe-fitter

On to a factory and then to a mill
Then back to a mill and a place of his own

He worked in a store and made many friends
And then moved the adventure ahead

With a cafe to run
And family to share

He had simple taste
And dressed with style

And when he did pass
I sent him in style and little of his life

A fedora for style so he'd be dressed for a date
A watch on his wrist since he never would be late

With a final good bye and a touch of his face
I slipped a snickers into the place

Cause if there's one thing he'd miss, It was the sweet tooth he'd had since he was a youth.
As father's day approaching I needed something for dad.

Mother Earth
Willard Wells Jun 2015
Sitting in the shadow of the afternoon light.
Filtered by the canopy of green.
As the heat waves spiral upward into the open air.

Watching the shadows of light and dark,
As the sun makes flashing streams through the canopy above
Not moving and lightly breathing,
Listening to the earth, to hear her breath.

Silence is needed to hear her.
Her voice is soft, but don't let that fool you.
If we don't heed the warning and mend our ways,

Mother Nature will step up and unleash her rage
There's no stopping her once she is cross
So in that peaceful moment
When she speaks softly

Please take notice
Once she has spoken, she won't say it twice
She'll just demolish everything in site!!
Are we listening

Home For The Holidays
Willard Wells Jun 2015
“Over the River and through the Woods to grandma's house we go”.

Have you checked on grandma lately??
Grandma don't live over no river
And not through the woods,
NO.

She's in Florida
Left no forwarding address.
For birthdays and Christmas
She sends cards and money

That say from anonymous.

The only time we hear from her
Is if there's a Madonna concert
You know their about that same age

Menopause was left behind
And then replaced
Jazzercise, yoga, spinning
Running and last but not least

That personal trainer
To get her in shape
And she hopes
She might even get a date
Maybe a smile??

Bones worn and chipped in decline
Movement will bring aches

From skilled surgeons hands

As there's no pain hip to knee

Mush
Willard Wells Jun 2015
Looking on the vastness of the sea of ice
Being pushed up into a wave that stays frozen in time
Until spring and the gradual breakup of the ice
Floating chucks from the size of a dinghy to a full size ship

Cold and unforgiving the weather far below zero
Winds howling across the ice
Leaving a white fog below
And freezes everything in sight

But look quick because it will soon be dark
No ships on the sea except frozen in place
As you walk where they use to be
Dogs on the ready to head out today

Sled loaded with goods to stay warm and survive
Parka, gloves and boots with layers below
Necessities of life when it's -60 below
Waiting till noon for just a little light

Even though soon it will be just like night.
Giving the command to mush on you huskies
Dogs off in a rush excited to run
We survive together or not at all

This place is unforgiving to one an all.
