Poetry is like gusts of fresh air
Harbinger of the soul’s catharsis
Flowing emotions through the pen
Concealed pain written across the pages
Healing the pain which was long buried

Pour me a drink from a broken bottle

Feed my needs with a rusty spoon

Call me out when there's nothing left

So that I will have nothing to lose

Place a rock beneath my head for a pillow

Tenpenny nails to make up my bed

In the morning if you are willing

Wipe the floor on the spot where I bled

if you've cried out all your tears
and you need to cry some more
i've been saving mine up for years
you can have all that i've stored

they may not be brand new
in fact most are second hand
some even slightly used
though they still will work the same

i didn't save them so i could lend them
i didn't save them for you to buy
i give them to you freely
to use anyway you need to cry

sister sleep come visit me

and bring along your book of dreams

we'll stay up late as we turn each page

and dream of our forgotten days
Return to me oh fondest love
as roses bid their buds to bloom
and all of nature springs to life
to wonder at the bluebirds tune

Return to me when sun is high
with warmth and golden sheen
to sit beside me for a while
beneath the evergreens

Return to me on Autumn winds
as blazing leaves decay
and place your precious heart with mine
in hope that it will stay.

Return to me while winter snows
ring in the seasons charms
for I have waited far too long
to be back in your arms.

Though time has passed I still hold on
my heart it never strays
It beats for you, oh fondest love
until my dying day.

She loves to spend her time

Far off from the light

Where she can clearly see

To pick stars from the sky

Puts them in her basket

Where she takes them home

Pastes them on her ceiling

Making constellations of her own

Why is it the supposedly more tolerant
Are the least tolerant around
Can we no longer speak our own minds
Without someone out there shooting us down

Feel free to speak your opinion
I'm more than willing but never forced to listen
That there my friend is your basic right
A freedom that seems to be missing

Are we not free thinking individuals
Did I miss the memo where that's no longer allowed
Should I just step into the jet stream
And become a part of this mind numbing crowd

I can clearly see that you are not me
Isn't that what it's supposed to be like
It also rings true that I am not you
So can't we just live our lives

It's hard enough standing on your own two feet
That's why at times we might step on some toes
But can't we all just get along
After all we might like the way that it goes
