Today some will breathe
A new breath in
And others
Anew breathe out
Breathe in
Breathe out
Breathe in a new day
Of fresh beginnings
And possibilities
Look all around
Under rocks where
Insects hide
And up above
Where stars twinkle
In the Night
At the water
That ripples at
The breath of wind
At trees with
Open arms
And people to
Love
Even those we
Don't even know
And as we breathe
Our last
May it be filled
Only with
Blessed memories
And hopefully surrounded
By those we love
If that isn't possible
May love be
Remembered
As we prepare
For the
Journey ahead

HOPE
I despised you that very hour
Of the way you left my heart in pieces
But today I woke up missing you
As if you never broke my heart

For me this is how it looks..a blank where nothing is accomplished..well maybe...
Mary Anne Norton Jan 2021
It's bleak outside
Drawing me inside
While I wait
For a clearing
Flashes of yesterday’s garden,
deep green under a gray sky--
I step into the canvas, moving
slowly, regretful and watchful,
with the weight of past light.

So many colored years,
some bright, some somber,
and you, the voice that ripened
youth, the accented syllables
opening the hours between
cliffs and sky, your presnce
re-appearing in soft explosions
of living, so painful to let go.

I pray for change, impermanence,
for last year’s dust to settle to
acceptance, to turn over the pages
of the past and to forgive everything.
I meet you,
but I'm embarrassed
because I've been melting
and now I'm standing
in the middle
of a small puddle.
You're pristine,
crisp corners,
shining like a diamond,
but I know we're all
doomed to melt.
