"** ** **", said the gruff he-goat,
nodding his beard and shaking his coat,
as he playfully kicked at his little kids,
his admiring doe batting her lids

"look at me", cried the peacock in glee,
as he fanned his feathers for all to see,
gave a little run to the hen opposite
with a shake of his tail, his train composite

"I am the greatest", boasted the ape,
pounding his chest 'neath woodland cape,
informing the missus who was the boss,
who's the alpha, who not to cross.

is it woman alone of all creation
who rules her roost with subjugation
that all men quiver at the turn of her nose
at her meandering moods, her highs, her lows?

more than man, she panders to fashion,
to drive her mate to love and to passion,
why are the rules here in reverse
different from the rest of the universe?

the brown female of blackbird genus
is more than happy with mate's dominus,
the moorhen brown of drab feather 'n plume
is quite content to sit in the gloom

why then does the human lady of the house
turn bumbershoot inside out
in all ways proclaim charge of her spouse
with guile or smile or rant or pout?

grey clouds in manchester aren't uncommon
in fact, i'd say, they're way too common[!],
the normal skies are grey, off-white,
that put a stopper on all things bright

but, hey, we've got imagination
i'll open me bumbershoot and give visitation
to the lands beyond and skies on high
as Mary Poppins, high in the sky.

i'll roll out my carpet and sail away
to the sun-blest fields of corn and hay,
with a sprinkle of fantasy, the world's your oyster,
so don't let yourself be confined to your cloister.

I am the monarch of my tea --
which I drink at ten-past-three --
Whose praise Great Britain loudly chants,
As they lose themselves in caffein'd trance,
As they lose themselves in caffein'd trance,
(Of Loose Leafed Tea that's sourced in Ceylon,)
And clap their batons,
in breeches and ribbons,
in a dance!

When the amber brew is spied,
My ***** swells with pride,
And I snap my fingers in the tea-house haunt,
In the estaminets and the restaurant,
In the estaminets and the restaurant,
(Of Loose Leafed Tea that's sourced in Ceylon,)
To get my quota,
of ice-tea soda,
as my want!

But when the brew is cold,
I generally arms mine fold,
And seek my rights with an English rant!
And demand my due of this G-d-blest plant
And demand my due of this G-d-blest plant
(Of Loose Leafed Tea that's sourced in Ceylon,)
of hot English tea,
with milk 'n honey,
to decant!

Alternative:

I am the monarch of my tea --
which I drink at ten-past-three --
Whose praise Great Britain loudly chants,
And so do its critics and its pundits and savants!
And so do its critics and its pundits and savants!
Its critics and its pundits,
especially its pundits,
and savants!

When the amber brew is spied,
My ***** swells with pride,
And I snap my fingers in the tea-house haunts,
And so do its critics and its pundits and savants!
And so do its critics and its pundits and savants!
Its critics and its pundits,
especially its pundits,
and savants!

But when the brew is cold,
I generally arms mine fold,
And seek my rights with an English rant!
And so do its critics and its pundits and savants!
And so do its critics and its pundits and savants!
Its critics and its pundits
[some of whom are bandits],
and savants!

A smile is the sun
emerging from grey cloud,
the aroma of baked bun,
that wafts through street 'n crowd,
as splendid as tawny fox,
lounging lazy, loud 'n proud,
as sky of equinox
after rain of stormy cloud,
as the cool wind on the rocks
of cliff 'fore climber's truckle,
as the scent of perfum'd phlox,
of sweet Jasmine 'n Honeysuckle,

so why let a black mood
chouse you out of the day
when a small smile brightens all
and shoos the cobwebs away,
a person is as person does,
it's not the thoughts that make us,
it's what we choose to make us buzz
that can build or break us.

snip-snip go my shears
there's 'motion in the gears
rhythmic music to my ears
let's get rid of hidden fears

here's a tough one to sever
but we shan't give up, no, never
as shears bear fruit of my endeavour
there's innocent joy, innocent pleasure

here's another gaining girth
badly hiding snigger 'n mirth
let's see shears what you're worth
send it toppling to the earth

this treatment is absolutely free
works better than any therapy
so those of you who are like me
give it a go, let yourself free.

i'm writing 'gain 'bout thoughts suicidal
because that is how i feel
and to ** to any gadfly's bridle
at my chance to heal

so here we go with swishing black
swirling round my head
caused by constant onslaught attack
an inner child's been fed

since age fourteen i've been crying
inside cupboards, under table
and when my outer persona's lying
inside i'm feces in a stable

'be happy', 'smile more',
they said to me as teenager,
as if the superficial rapport
could be a sudden changer

arrows shoot with deadly aim
laughter finds its mark
and though i don't show any pain
inside it's dead and dark

i'll give a sigh and plod on again
and hope for brighter time
though inside it feels the constant rain
belies all pantomime.

and why do i write this here?
because i'm a social being
i need sometimes to shed a tear
and feel there's someone seeing

**** your self by giving
of yourself, that's living,
seek enjoyment and take
of others, 'n wither 'n flake

so goes the ancient wisdom
that has not aged with time
its part of ancient system
no sugar-coated rhyme

seek to give
and not receive
you will live
and will not grieve

but if in receipt
of constant eat
that breathing breath
is living death

he who lives it knows it
it aint so quaint to hear,
but if you're one who chose it
you'll know its truth is clear
