My Dear Poet
When you’re pulled down
You have a better view of the sky

When you’re shut out
You have a better chance at freedom

When you’re knocked off
You gain a better sense of balance

When you’re let go
You have a better taste of release

Oh hear me now
dear world at odds…
Bare witness individual ethnic mobs…
Take my words both mythic and literal,
your walls of Eden are hardly impenetrable
Open up your heart my long lost friends,
give peace and love a new way in…

Intelligence fails, but stupidity never.
She is speaking to us
Warning us
Advising us
Comforting us
Helping us
We just have to listen
We are all her children

She’s been telling us about the planet
Warning what will come
Showing us
With storms
Droughts
Fires
Extreme heat
We just have to listen
We must listen

She’s been crying for us
For all the creatures that live here
For the forests
Plants
She’s been begging us
To change
To stop
To respect what’s here
The planet
The boundaries between us
And them
All we have to do is listen
Then change our ways
Mother knows best

My Dear Poet
Because you’re upside down
in my mind
You may as well change the light
Or keep us blind
As we sit here in my head
all night

My laces are loose
and although it’s comfortable for my toes
It’s been breaking my back

My Dear Poet
If I can do with words
what your lips do with kisses
The pen will be a weapon
the poem becomes your weakness
So wean these words willingly
the way I hold to your lips
and savour the “ I Love You”
and kiss me, like this
