Dear Society,
You have created...

A state of mind
Say you love someone,
But show no actions.
Say you Want to be successful,
But sleeping is enjoyable and work is a dissatisfaction.

A state of mind
Where people are powerful in the physical,
But are puny mentally.
Where Parents don't want their kids to follow their path,
Yet their actions make them watch their kids pay the same penalty.

We can still change and create...

A state of mind
Where we don't find problems,
But we create solutions.
Where is laziness is not an option,
Because winning is the only resolution.

A state of mind
That stands strong in trouble,
By conforming the body to its will.
That helps people in time of need,
And refuses to lead them downhill.

A state of mind
That loves to give to others.
One that hates to damage and pollute.
A society that is truly genuine,
And only speaks the truth.

Sincerely,
A youth concerned about his generation

Grow up without a father?
That wouldn't be so bad...
Yet every broken man whispers
to his devil,
you're the father I never had.

My chains are my desires,
my eyes are your possessions,
and when I walk into the fires,
my lies are my confessions.

Just a taste of your flesh,
will bring me to life,
but if you depend on me
your heart is a knife.

My father was a ghost,
but I grew up
I sought bigger ghosts,
the devil in my throw-up.

You can run from what haunts you,
you can hide from your past,
but the devil will flaunt you,
up there on his mast;

because you're the fool
who sought comfort in gold
you would have learned,
if you could grow old.

I've been the king
in an ocean of sand,
not knowing choice
is in the palm of my hand.
The things only God can teach you.

NOTE | I came back and separated the fifth stanza into the fifth and sixth stanzas that they are now. I also wanted to mention, each stanza has a voice of its own.

I decided to name them according to stanza:
1) wrath. 2) envy. 3) lust. 4) gluttony. 5) pride. 6) greed. 7) sloth.

I hope this clarifies things and adds more depth to the poem :)

Enjoy!

Facing backwards on this track of sunsets;
Straining to see the significance of each step.

How did I get here?

Chasing the scent of who I used to be;
Lacking definition, but I knew my meaning.
Change was imminent, yet I'd remain unique.
Now those days seem like the peak
of my potential.

A painful reminder of what I'll never know.

My present self resides
in the time between then and why.
Stuck in an infinite loop of what I didn't do;
The price to pay for a world without you.

Originally a trilogy,
this disbanded energy
effects my ability to see
beyond...
