I’d follow all of these rivers for you
Though wither’d and weather’d, I stand
Through torrents and gale-force, through glacier snow
Edging my way to dry land
Like I the sail-boat, all tatter’d and torn
The oncoming current is she
I stand at the bow, a worrisome brow
As silent I’m swept out to sea.

I could have been a million things
I could have died a thousand times
I could have walked along that road
I could have stopped
I could have tried again, and again
I could have broken loose
I could have looked for another way
I could have
I didn’t

If I start again, what happens if I get sick?
Will I lose everything again?
How can I prevent that?
Why rebuild in a flood zone?
That’s what it feels like.
I actually feel like
the flood waters haven’t even receded.

I want to remember
This feeling
I feel like
I am drinking from a well
After years
Of dehydration

I sit in my room crying at night
because you no longer care what's right
Me having faith in you, made me a fool
You putting me through that was cruel
I used to think that things would be fine
but this time you crossed the line
I no longer have faith in you
You went back to him but what's new
After everything he has put you through
you still go back to something that isn't good for you
I hope you're happy with the choice you picked
You made me see that you'll always be an addict
You have no idea how you make me feel
Half the time I don't even know how to deal
I don't know how to deal with this aching pain
I just wish it would all go down the drain
This is a poem about my mother who chose drugs and a boyfriend that has beat on her over me more than once.

You prepared me for fire
Slowly warming my days
Now you burn for another
I watch and twist in the blaze
