You call me out
I take you in
That’s when the pink swims

And I focus
On the shape of your face
The memory is easily erased

You could say it means nothing
Nothing at all
But the truth is
You make my skin crawl

Your words like gravel
My expression unravels
You’re set in your ways

My thoughts collect
All of my debt
I’m stuck in my place

You could say it means nothing
70 x 7
When the truth is
There shouldn’t be mirrors in heaven

Draining each drop
Her mood didn’t improve
******* up the air
Each time she looked up

Spiralling inside out
Across the wind
At all that
Passed by,

Severed with a
Thread crawling
Slightly behind it
In a deep frustration

Merging with anger
That he’d smiled
At somebody else
That morning.

Have you ever felt alone in a crowd?
Have you ever wanted it to be quiet, when it's loud?
Have you ever felt a stare, only to find no-one there?
Have you ever wanted to find out that the truth is a lie?
Have you ever wanted just to die?
Have you ever wanted to disappear never to return?
Have you ever felt a person's concern?
Have you ever felt the need to confirm your worth?
Have you ever felt circumstantial?
Excess to requirement?
Devoid of refinement?
At times this need within gets loose,
its box devoid of empathy and feeling
it leaves you reeling, freewheeling into nothing but oblivion*.

Play your sad guitar a while
that I may sing for thee
of words that sit within my heart
and technicolour dreams.

Play a tune of broken wings
now healed by tender hands
brought to flight by friendship strong
and moons in distant lands.

Harmonise with me this night
let music be our guide,
you see my soul in different light,
through darkness, where I hide.

Then I'll lift up my song to thee
the sweetest ever heard
and raise my voice in thanks once more
to friendship, love and words.
For my sweetest friend.

I thought I could trust in you enough to reach for you as I was drowning.
I was foolish to think you were my life raft
when you were the undercurrent that kept pulling me down.
Farther and farther out I went
into this open sea of vulnerability and naivety.
I was hopelessly engulfed in this idea of who I wanted you to be.
I romanticized you and every word that spilled from your mouth.
So much that your lies were salt water in my open wounds
and I let myself believe they were the stitches.
