  Sep 2014 Shaded Lamp
Joe Cole
So far these weekly challenges have turned up some truly inspirational works one of which achieved DP status and I would like to thank every single person who has contributed.

This time the challenge is going to be somewhat different in that instead of producing a great poem at short notice I'm allowing one week and please poets do not post before next Friday.

This time four words have to be incorporated into your piece, words you are already familiar with

Leaves...Magic... Tranquility... Freedom..

Oh yes, a maximum of twenty lines and a minimum of ten lines just to make things more interesting
I have been requested to bring the posting date forward to 9/11 so you can start posting on Thursday

You are going to remember

You'll remember this all day

Try as you surely will but

You'll remember this all day

You'll try to forget this but

You'll remember this all day

As ****** irritating as this is

You'll remember this ALL DAY!
I've got a poem that will get on your nerves
You'll remember this all day

There was more than I expected
Mr Monsanto has a monopoly on the GMO market
his products fill many agriculturist's baskets
there harmful affects have been well documented
the damage they're causing can be circumvented

those men and women who work the land
can deal Mr Monsanto a crook poker hand
discontinue buying his bad chemical sprays
recommence those old pest controlling ways

he's been making big profits from the stuff that he sells
it is time for the agriculturists to hear the alarm bells
he's had the ear of the administration for too long
and it has always listened to the pitch of his song

Mr Monsanto keeps telling the world that his products are fab
but he never mentions a thing about adverse discoveries in science labs
the people are becoming informed on the land
they're waking up to the unsafeness of his brand

the public will not abide Mr Monsanto's crap
they know when a dodgy product has landed in their laps
cancer causing agents in cornmeal
this sort of thing doesn't make for edible appeal

big companies like Mr Monsanto might like to explain themselves
and enlighten us as to why his purulent stuff is on market shelves
behind his fortress walls he hides a folio of dross
uncovering it would ensure his company ran at a loss

for Mr.Cole's "Magic" assignment

The Magician

Moments of wonder
performed with theatrical pazaz
A prolonged instance of dumbstruck amazement
---
A slight of hand
or a glittery distracting explosion
creating a captivated audience screaming for *More!

More!

More!

Fool us again

Test our I.Qs

See if we're sane

---
But to perform...
---
I need more money the magician boldly insists
Our hands ****** into our pockets, to our wrists
---
But wait...
Silence...
Then a collective gasp
There on the table under lock and clasp
---
All of our wallets
Plain to see
And the future money of each baby
---
Did we clap?
Oh, how we heartily clapped
And cheered and laughed like we were handicapped
---
Then the show stopped
But we still clapped, stamping our feet
As the Magician strode off stage back to 10 Downing Street

*TA DAAA!
For Mr Cole
I do hope this qualifies as "magic"
Money from thin air
