Tread lightly
for you tread upon my heart
those nights the Angels
want to tear you down
those nights you want to talk
about Modernism
those nights you're Kerouac
under the ageless, drunken Moon
those nights on which
I discover that
we both like Columbo
& both have watched '' The Reader'',
'' Russian Ark''
& both Virginia Woolf adore
tread lightly
for you tread upon my heart

      i.i
Tread lightly
for you tread upon my heart
those nights when you are
just too smart
for your own good
& wit & kindness
seem to well up
in your every word
those nights you talk of
Northern thunderstorms
when down South
we have none
& Bronte's Kathy
haunts you
Tread lightly
for you tread upon my heart

      i.i.i
Tread lightly
for you tread upon my heart
each time you
make the stars seem dimmer
by your absence
when the broken night's soundtrack
is your ' Joy Division'
Those nights you write poetry
at 2 a.m just like me
Those nights I realize
you'll never see in me
the jazz that I found in you
Because you never looked
Those nights I want to tear down
the Angels for keeping us apart;
tread lightly for you tread upon my heart
I am a poor man who is poorer than any rich  *****
I would love to tread on the rich
I want to destroy what the rich do for us
Because it is mostly ******* the poor around
I wish the rich would give the poor some money
To make our days worth while
But instead they give us not much in our pensions
Yeah I would love to tread on the rich
You see rich Christians believe in money and power rather than give their money to the poor
You see rich people get to sit in a box at the footy getting wine soft drink and beer and nibbles
If a poor man eats any of their food
They will kick us out of the place
I am poor and penniless with no money to get me by
I would love to tread on the rich
You see because of the rich
We are suffering every day
It is not so good at all
Being poor ***** and I think it would be great if we just tread on the rich
They don't care if we suffer
They don't care if we are penniless
They wouldn't give a **** if we never get rich
I just want to tread oh really tread
I want to tread on the rich

and I will learn to tread forward

the twisting, winding, twining godforsaken roads
the endless forked paths.
through muddy thickets,
lush undergrowth,
and soggy marshes
I wander,
and I will learn to tread forward.

the dismal, interminable, harrowing roads
the treacherous pathways
that lead straight to death.
through unforgiving fog,
cheerless sunless mountains,
and on the footprint of war
I plod,
and I will learn to tread forward.

unearthly, obscure, eerie roads
the traumatic passageways
that bring memories of the walkways before.
through the eye's rainstorms,
shrill heinous screams,
and across the self-fought battlefields,
I limp,
and I will learn to tread forward.

I will always learn to tread forward.

I'm trying to tread forward.
