On a day like today
God took a life I wished had stayed
On a day like today
A part of my heart was taken away
On day like today
I touched your warm skin for the last time
On a day like today
I took a break from words
On a day like today
I blamed God for my loss
On a day like today
My guilt ate at my soul
On a day like today
My guilt ate at my brain
On a day like today
I reached the eye of the storm

On a day like today
You died but so did I
Sleep in peace. We live to die but what we leave behind is forever lasting.
