Hummingbird you fell to the ground, I scooped you up and put you where no one would ever hurt you, taking the pain for us both.

Innocent and intricate, this world wasn’t made for your beauty.

I thought you’d forget me until You buzzed overhead today, perched on the tree and looked me in the face

reminding me to relentlessly feast on sweetness while the sun reveals an iridescent beauty blunted by the night.
