Dec 2018
A mixture of mud and gravel could be heard under the soles of my boots.
Dogs barking, horses simply bickering with one another,
And the loud rush of cars passing by on the highway.
The roof wasn’t hard to climb up onto.
Clouds passed by in the summer blue sky,
Red paint was peeling off of the barn,
And I got lost
Somewhere between the trees in the distance and my own dreamy state.
When I was found,
The stars in the dark ocean above me made my own heart flutter.
Still, unforgiving cold tugged at my limbs,
Telling me to go.
I slid off the roof of the red barn
And went home.
