as long as they listen
my soul will sing
as long as they listen
my heart has wings

as long as the children
look up to me
with radiant smiles
content I'll be

as long as they listen
as bright eyes gaze
as long as they listen
I'll feel the sun's rays

having chosen these
with special needs
I'll continue this journey
see where it leads

as long as they listen
my soul will sing
as long as they listen
my heart has wings
A bit sappy sounding but true. :-) Then again, maybe its simplicity fits the topic. Though they can be or seem to be complicated, children are simple in the most wonderful sense...impish, innocent, guileless.
