Dec 2017
I look outside right now.
There's no snow falling.
Everybody's leaving town.
They tell me "Home's calling."

So i guess I'll do the same.
It won't take too long.
Start the car, I'm on my way.
But something feels so wrong.

They all tell me it's the best time of the year,
but nowhere feels like home without you here.

I sit and watch them all
unwrap their gifts and trinkets.
As I watch the paper fall,
I can't help but think that

I could be somewhere else,
somewhere I want to be,
with the sound of choirs and bells
and you laughing with me.

"Come on now, smile!" they say. "Get with the Christmas cheer.".
But it doesn't feel like home without you here.

I try to please them, hiding
behind my fake smile.
But each time I let my mind
wander for a while,

it runs straight back to you.
The only thing I want
is to wake up next to you
and hold you in my arms,

and so I raise my hand to wipe away a tear.
It doesn't feel like home without you here.

Nowhere feels like home without you here.
