you are endless wordplay recorded over a blank coffeeshop soundtrack. your lips throw out pun after pun, but your throat hums to the ghost of a song you swore you didn't listen to.

you are smiles across the breakfast table, blinking too-little sleep from your too-bright eyes, talking too loudly about how you don't need rest when you can get drunk on life. i laugh quietly. the dark circles give you away, my dear.

you are long nights and warm blankets and repeating "we should go to bed" until it sounds like a joke. it is hard to fall asleep when the blood is singing in my veins and my dreams are coming true right in front of me.

you are soft corners and sharp edges, too strong to stand firm and too fragile to break. your footsteps falter and even your confidence has cracks, but i'll admit it's comforting to know that you're just as scared as i am sometimes.

you are fast-talking and over-explaining, and you never do anything halfheartedly so you are also lying-too-easily. but it's okay i never wanted the truth anyway, i hated how it dimmed the memories and haunted the empty space on my mattress. i like how that space is taken up by the curve of your body instead.

you are called a paradox, white wolf or black sheep, predator and prey at odds and at peace. and you are called downward-flowing, like the way i am falling faster and harder for you. then again, maybe i like metaphors too much. maybe your name is just a name. maybe it's the most beautiful sound i've ever heard.
but i call you love because you are the only reason i have any inkling of what it means.

As I lie on pastures
Along the grimes of these woods
Breathing in the morning dew
I feel awakened and anew
Past sins washed away like the streaming river
Wondering if I've live till forever.

But then I look up to you.
Your face looks shiny and
new. The angels are gathered
around you with their harps
and violins. Singing that I’m free
of my past sins. I think this is
the beginning of something
beautiful and not the end. Hand
me my pallet and set the canvas
up for I will paint a portrait of us.
While the winds ruffle through the
curls of your hair and the leaves of
the big old oak tree. I try to speak
up words of love but it almost seems
that the morning dew has set a flood
from within. Come over dear and rest
your bones with me while I draw this
portrait using my blood and tears. Oh
darling won’t you rest your bones over
here next to me under this big old oak tree
.

Your beauty akin to the moon
Forever gleaming in her prowess
Shadows mortify at the thought of you
Your light begets hope thrusting miracles
I've been praying all my life
Stay with me my dear
As these woods as our witnesses
We vow to be forever rooted from the veins to our beating hearts.
Now come closer dear and dance
with the ventricles of my heart*

Not a scratch, baby
I won't let you fall, trust me
I'd hold you carefully and won't
Let marks ruin your beauty

I'd leave my fingerprints on you
So everybody will know
That this instrument of love
is infinitely owned

Strum you ever so softly
You'll make me hear melodies
and I'll play you, lovely,
like I have done this for years

other times i dream of
being on the edge of a cliff
telling my body to jump
one last step and
i will be crushed into the pitch
of a complete void
where hell and peace meet
but i never do
i never jump
because maybe i still believe
in the absent fact that
you might come back
and stop me from doing
that one last step
an old poem. what was i even thinking?

You saw me.
Then came the part where
I cannot stop staring at you.

Right now* I think
the sea could be calm
If we let our ship sink
We will both be harmed

Right now I know
This curr'nt will hold us
The tides are never low
But bring what is ours

Right now I feel
These waves have power
We'll keep each other still
Though seas are unfair
