in their formative years*
these stars burnt bright
movie theatres took them
on a stratospheric flight

they became famous
for being kids of talented nerve
the rolling camera's
showing their dynamic verve

yet the tinsel clad images
weren't portraying the true self
child actors were a studio's
road to greedy pelf

when reaching the teenage
period of their existence
drugs and alcohol plagued them
with much persistence

something was absent
as they grew to adulthood
littleĀ or no care given by
pushy parents in their childhood

tiny stars that once twinkled
did fall ******* the ground
their careers in dream flicks
bought them all unbound

Hollywood's picture factory
wasn't substantive in its part
which left many juveniles
*to feel so aggrieved of heart
I'm just a guy that has learned how to rhyme
Each time I press pen to paper
I take it line by line by enticing line
Rainbow sherbet most often the flavor

I never know the abstract of the subject
When paying a penny for my thoughts
Either you do or you don't love it
Whether you like it or not

Most times you'll see I'm not overly deep
Just barely skimming this demented minds surface
At times you might find I take a high dive
If you blink though you may never notice

Like I said at the time, just a guy who's captured the rhyme
Using it to my fool advantage
Where I try to steer clear of the insanely weird
While wading knee deep in the outlandish

So hold on tight and it should be alright
Pull the plug as we swirl in this tub
Taking a ride on the very next rhyme
Let me know though when you've had enough

Spent days trying to forget her
I was all over her, with strict joy
With my footsteps falling softer
On foreign ground it falls softer

Swimming with a cigarette
Floating in the leafy motel pool
Lift up your burning head
To see the ashes of abandoned youth
Its familiar
It's all around you

Whenever I close my eyes
My bed starts to quiver
For the leaves, they will wither
For your ashes, they will deliver

I was unhappy, on and on repeat
Until I got home in Tennessee
To see a woman on bended knee
Tumbling to the crumbling peek
Trusting where I'm supposed to be

You're warm, my prison is cold
You're just a wolf without teeth
In solitude, I hear a noise from gold
You're just a wolf without teeth
You're the summer smoke, the reddest sky
You're just a wolf without teeth
That will drop in the guillotine and die
You're just a wolf without teeth
Running with shoes full of landmines
Asking what I saw, and apologizing until the edge of dawn
If you think it makes me wanna surrender and wrap you in my arms
Well you're wrong
So pull the curtains of loss, to get hit with a blizzard of saws
With their special smiles
Setting both our young hearts free
Reminding me of you
Reminding you of me

Coming from the both of us
On that special night of need
Planting of the love
Setting life to seed

Since that moment came along
Life has never been the same
Sharing all that we are
Included in our names

As now our needs are truly met
With both of them our fortune and fame
Having that joy by our side
We'd gladly give all else away

Though we both knew of love
We never knew of this
Sent from the heavens up above
Pure of beauty and of bliss

The moment that we first laid eyes
A life beyond that of rich
Nothing could match as much joy
As a love like this
For both my beautiful daughters
What makes my tongue
salivate for more
What flavors make my
knees weak and shaky
A closet foodie with
a need to break out
To share the experience
from appetizer to dessert,
from ambience to seating
The essence pulls us in
and overwhelms, yet we
remain steadfast to be
objective in our critique
At the onset of the bite
I connect to the SAVORY
sensation my taste buds
stimulate almost instantly
Over and over again I
consume until my
gluttonous conscience
shames me to my core
Ironically enough... I
would do it all over again.
My ode to the foodie in me

Here I stand, with all my lore,
Poor fool, no wiser than before.*

We die right now;
not in some alien future.
Some days, the sun shines.
Others the gloom gathers.
Wisdom is a fleeting moment.
Death does not defeat life.
Experience is the path
to transcendence.
Take it all in
before you can't.
THE SUN IS SHINING BRIGHT
IT'S EARLY AFTERNOON
YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL DELIGHT

SITTING ON MY FRONT PORCH
I'M LOOKING UP AT THE SKY
IT'S CLEARLY A SIGN
A RAINBOW MOVING TOWARDS THE
HARVEST MOON

THE SUN IS SHINING
IT'S EARLY AFTERNOON
YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL DELIGHT

YOUR SOUL IS SHINING
FROM YOU TO ME
HARVEST MOON, HARVEST MOON

PEACE I FEEL AT LAST
FUTURE NOT PAST
FORGIVE NOT FORGET
LOVE NOT HATE

IT'S CLEARLY A SIGN
OUR UNIVERSE MADE THIS DESIGN
YOUR SOUL SHINES
LIKE THE HARVEST MOON

THE SUN IS SHINING
IT'S EARLY AFTERNOON
YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL DELIGHT

YOUR SOUL IS SO FAR AWAY
ON MY MIND, IN MY HEART
YOU SHINE LIKE THE
HARVEST MOON
