7 shots

disappointment is like that 7th glass of ***** you shot back.
in the beginning, the transparent liquid seems enticing, your heart beats
with new rhythm. (your glands water, your pupils dilate)

1 shot in, it burns…but slowly disappears.
instantly your brain forgets, your vein longs for the torture

2nd shot in, the burn is like fire, your lips smack with disgust
but you can’t stop there

3rd shot in, you taste the gasoline at the pit of your stomach,
fueling the flame that you know will eventually eat you alive

4th shot in, your brain is sending signals, telling you to jump
while you still can, but your arteries silence it, and all you can do
is laugh

5th shot in, people’s faces blur, your tongue is thick with regret.
your stomach is ready to empty the lies you previously swallowed

6th shot in, the floor moves. you have to hold a chair to steady yourself. people’s voices sound like boom boxes at full volume. you cover your ears to stop the pain

7th shot in, you’re on the ground, watching the ceiling float away. you
feel the previous shots try to find a way out.

disappointment hid itself in that 7th shot, entering your bloodstream quick and painless. you are lethargic, your head pounds like construction during a too early of a morning.
you sink into the couch, into the carpet, trying to regain previous emotions, movements.
disappointment travels your veins, gleeful with the free ride, the new
habitat.

(at some point, you’ll have to get rid of him)

you said my skin was
cinnamon.
i wonder if it
tasted like it too.
your skin was cigarette ash & *****.
my tongue is thick with it.

purple, hazy hues.
yellow nuance, murky blossoms.
where are they?
azure tinge mixed in the honey.
canvas is blank,
with only galling white scribbles,
grey and ebony ink written.
enter, my darling
let me **** your fangs.
press. press. press.
my locks swathed in your fingers.
hard, my love, hard.
into my bones. film. upon layer.
upon membrane.
the blemishes,
your art.
tonight, we are animals,
so no time for serene.
passion.
howl with me,
consume me.

Perched up on stumps,
Weightless lumps:
Foul odored ogres,
Craving crazing vultures,
Picking eyes for pies,
Picking claws at jaws,
Ears for their fear
To hear their screeching;
Their cold blood sapping;
Soaking leaves;
Falling trees to steal their rings,
To **** their singing,
To end their scratching branched voices scrape the streaking air:
A current of palpable energy.

These ogres drain and gain one more breath.

One more- to be saved from death.
How tragic a sight to see
Is when the ogre becomes the tree heaving and wallowing,
Begging, crawling the earth in hope of breath or birth;
In hope of resurrection.

But how tragic it is an ogre must
Break so many backs to gain it back;
To strive to live when their lives are
Less than nothing.

And the eager ogres cry crimes;
Lay in lies;
Drip through time:
Vultures circling,
Craving,
Crazing,
To feed their need,
To give to a life not worth a strand.

It is just not a good day for heavy thoughts and sweaty socks
Because I am all alone -
Without my heart of stone
I will be chasing sadness all day long;
Maybe turn it into a song,
A dirge
A complaint of woeful hate.

And the words will still sound wrong.

And I will perch up here
On my post of hollow wood;
Dribble words from my lips.
I will poke holes in your ears;
Puppet your pivoting hips.

I will drench myself in covers of comatose catastrophes
That seem statistically highly impossible to occur,
Yet my mind loves to weep so much.

He will imagine pain just to bring me to life.

And this is all that I have got,
This song,
These shots,
And not even those because taps are dry,
Bottles empty,
Fizzes flat,
Broken glass

Open heart,
             will you ever stop bleeding?
Open wounds, pussing foamy forgotten youth.

And I could have spent all this time
Practicing how to smile,
But my mouth was too busy talking about my
Imaginary sadness.

i feel lonely
with friends to spare
homeless
with a house full of stuff
hungry
with a full belly
worthless
with a mind of gold

Snake eyed smile
foggy brain
tired pores
dripping
          dripping
                 dripping -
                                insane.

Feeling minute
minuscule
minimized -  tired.

This flower needs some water
this flower needs some sun
this flower need some soil,
this flower need everyone

And I am droning and droning and droning on
of withering plants,
scattering ants ...
pointless lines monotonous tones
scraping bones
bruising flesh
itching palms:
                      catching the rush.

Twitching twitching lights
dead trees with leaves in flourish
as I scamper home with my body to nourish.

Angel?

In That Moonlit Night Standing In The Abaft,
Watching The Towed Flaccid Wooden Raft,
I Thought That I Saw An Angel Resting,
Lying Exhausted There In That Craft.

I Call The Girl Out Unbeknownst Of Her Kind Name,
"Hey Young Lady!!" To Which She Didn't Much Respond,
She Looked Up Towards Me Once In Anguish & Collapsed,
I See Desperation In Her Amber Eyes & Resolve To Help Her.

The Crewmen Had Now Been Doing The Paddles After Resting,
I Summon My Captain & Ask, "Do You See That Girl In The Raft?"
The Senile Captain Smiles To Say, "Commodore, Better Get Married,"
I Look Just Clueless To Which He Simply Replies, "There Is No Girl."

True He Was As She Had Simply Disappeared,
I Started Thinking Of My Sleep Needs That Day,
I Looked Around Again In A Hope To Find The Girl,
I Had Compromised My Routine As The Commodore.

Then I Immediately Realized It Was My Wild Phantasm,
Now This Was Just A Plain Illusion Of A Tired Sailor's Mind,
No Mermaids Could Have Ever Existed In Reality & Were Fake,
I Turned Towards The Deck To Go Back To My Bunk For Sleeping.

As I Climbed Down The Stairs To Enter My Room Amazed & Dazed,
I Saw Her Standing And Waiting For Me By The Side Of My Bunk,
I Accepted That Delusion Of My Mind & Started To Lie Down,
She Said, "I'm As Real As Your Thoughts, Don't Fear Me."

She & I-Me & Her, Had The Best Time That Night,
In The Morning She Was Gone & Was Just Gone,
Disappeared Into Thin Air While I Was Asleep,
Each Day I So Dearly Long For Her To Return.

In the warmth of May
I look at the magnolias
And wonder when I, too,
Will bloom into something
Beautiful.

There was failure once
In abundance
Where trees were fruitful
Where animals were playful
Where humanity rested its head
On the luscious ***** of created and Creator

Wrought with destruction
Hellfire eclipsed
Snakes, serpents, leviathans, dragons
Eclipsing the sun where it stood in the sky
Changing out the staff for a noose
Hang thyselves, created
Hang

To bite at the ankles
To inject a great debilitator
Break your backs, created
Break
Labor in pain
Labor in vain
Understand your place

A second go
The desert showed
There was no flora to be fruitful
No abundance, but lack thereof
The antithesis of the first
Down to the outcome
Perhaps a former so we can see the glory
Of the latter

Out of desolation
Came great reserve
Out of desperation
Came great determination
Out of humanity
Came divinity
This is one of the first religious poems I've made that I legitimately enjoy and stand proud of. I hope this tend continues.
