Do you believe/ it could be / we are but dust from stars
And is it possible / that our molecules / are not truly far apart

Wonder with me / won't you please

Nobody really knows / exactly where they came from
But some know less / and some others can only guess

Will you please / wonder with me

Perhaps when existence began / all things were as one
But big bang happened / and we all got split up

Do you wonder / of our mystery

Maybe our molecules touched / before time was started
And now we've found each other / as close as before we parted

i.
running through
time and space,
I happen upon you
dancing with someone else--

you sway,
she leans
and I sulk for
losing my chance--

eventually I'll have the nerve
to ask you to dance,
to grace the world
with your radiance
and I'll bask in blissful
happiness as you look at me
and only me amidst the Others--

she walks
with focused grace,
legs curve softly
under loose fitted sofa
pants and skate shoes--

she talks with hurried
importance, words flying down
stairs until she pauses
momentarily to flip her
hair over her shoulder
(mind you it's just below shoulder length and i can't get over it)
and i love her--

we hold hands most nights
beneath dim stars and
whispering graves, walking silently
i long to kiss
your black lips, painted
but get shy
when you notice--

my skateboard lady,
i will come for you one day--

She steps into the dark swamp
where the long wait ends.

The secret slippery package
drops to the weeds.

She leans her long neck and tongues it
between breaths slack with exhaustion

and after a while it rises and becomes a creature
like her, but much smaller.

So now there are two. And they walk together
like a dream under the trees.

In early June, at the edge of a field
thick with pink and yellow flowers

I meet them.
I can only stare.

She is the most beautiful woman
I have ever seen.

Her child leaps among the flowers,
the blue of the sky falls over me

like silk, the flowers burn, and I want
to live my life all over again, to begin again,

to be utterly
wild.

Is the moon tired? she looks so pale
Within her misty veil:
She scales the sky from east to west,
And takes no rest.

Before the coming of the night
The moon shows papery white;
Before the dawning of the day
She fades away.

Sylvia Plath
"I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
I lift my lids and all is born again.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

The stars go waltzing out in blue and red,
And arbitrary blackness gallops in:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.

I dreamed that you bewitched me into bed
And sung me moon-struck, kissed me quite insane.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

God topples from the sky, hell's fires fade:
Exit seraphim and Satan's men:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.

I fancied you'd return the way you said,
But I grow old and I forget your name.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

I should have loved a thunderbird instead;
At least when spring comes they roar back again.
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)"

They shoot the blackbirds
In locked cages
For singing of living freely.
They say
"No! No! No!
Those birds are insane
Bums
Losers
Dead to society.
Now,
Go to work
Go to school
Stop at stop signs
Marry
Have children
And pay taxes."
But I heard the lunatic chirping
Riding on the echo
Of a shotgun blast
It said
"Nothing really matters
And the people aren't as important
As they think.
The boundaries they set
Never really existed.
Now quit your job
Throw your wallet in the garbage
And run naked in the streets"
It sounded beautiful
And I can't seem
To get its ringing
Out of
My skull.
How long should I
Pluck
These black feathers
Of mine?
