I Feel Old

I used to have fun
I used to take walks
I used to have something special that I feel I've since lost
But for the life of me
I couldn't tell you what it was
Youth
Vitality
Maybe a soul
Whatever happened to it
Where did it go?
come back to me

Do You?

Do You?

Feel the passion in the power
Rolling from the thunder

Breath in fragrance of the mystery
Pouring from the wonder

Taste the sweetness of the riches
At the peak of plunder

Take the final lasting gasp
Before it pulls you under

Do You?

See the hint that's in the wrinkle
Around the eyes of ages

Feel the gentle nudging of the breeze
With the turning of the pages

Hear the lonely sound that's made
In the closing of the cages

Watch the kingdom as it falls
When it's taken by the sages

Do You?

Take what you know is right
And leave behind whats left

Give a man his final rights
To smoke his dying breath

Then stand back and wonder why
It all ended in his death

Find others you can blame
When life becomes a tangled mess

Do You?

When you're needing someone
I hope you think of me
So much about you
Exceeds my fantasies
I'm a  much better man
Having all that's you
There's just no replacing
The blessings that you do

DOWN DEEP WITHIN  I NEED YOU FEELING ME
THE HAPPY FEELING IN YOU'S MEANT TO BE
MY ARMS WRAP TIGHT AROUND YOU
LONGING JUST TO FEEL
OH HOW MUCH I NEED YOU FEELING ME

Your medicine is magic
I never get enough
Just let me pull you closer
I'll give you back so much
You are the therapy
That brings a glow to me
Woman you're all I crave
In all humanity

Is everything a lie and nothing the truth
What we see, hear or even touch
how do we know if it is true
how do we know if it is a lie
Is it truth that I was born and is it truth that I will die
or is everything a lie

If I tell you I love you
if I tell you I care
if I tell you I will always be there
how do you know if it is true
how do you know if it is a lie

You tell me I was born in 87
You also told me I would end up in Heaven
but I have just as much chance I will end up in Hell
How do I know if it is true
how do I know if it is a lie

We hallucinate
we hear voices
we even feel things that are not there
so how do we know what is truth and what is a lie

Are we here
are you there
do we look and sound like we think
do we even think or are we controlled
so I ask what is truth and what is a lie
Thank you everyone who has liked my previous poems, especially "I love you because" I didn't expect it to do as well as it has. Anyway thank you, as I said before I will be taking a break and this one will be my final one for a while. (Just sorting through old ones and this is the last one)

I am Free with You

I've never been so happy.
I could write and write
about you all day long.
Some may disagree though,
"Rachel, why are you acting
so sad and so terrible?
You've been so happy lately?"

I'm sorry I lashed out once and
I decided I hated the words you
said to me the other day.
I am so, so sorry that for once
I disagreed with your words
and everything you stand for.
I am so sorry that I have a
mind of my own for once.
All I've ever known was
silence and of being owned
by you wretched people.
But, now I am free.

So free to live and to do
and to love who my heart
chooses.

My heart chose her--
if I could scream it to the world,
I honestly would.
Love deserves to be known
and to be shouted
and to be whispered in
the wind.
Love deserves the attention
I'd give you,
and the songs I'll sing,
and kisses I'll touch you with.
You, my darling, deserve more than
the sadness that life brings you.
My beautiful old soul,
you are bright and such a gorgeous
and beautiful and intelligent girl,
how could I ever let you go?

No amount of poetry
or music
or even kisses
will ever be enough to
show you that you
are my love.

You are the one I am looking for
Who can help me
Who can fight with me
Who can make me smile
You are the one
Who I can trust for
For Whom I can share my thoughts
For whom I can do anything
You are the one who can match with me
You are the one who can save me
I am waiting for you.

There's nothing left,
inside my hollow self.
You took the trust,
created distance with your fist.

There's nothing left,
Of our former wealth.
It's turned to dust,
Just like my crippled wrist.

there's no poetry between us
in the inches of soil and grass that add milage to the distance
there is no tragic stanza
no iambs to recount and consider
no melody
my heart has a break in it
a faultline unabridged
your spaces are defective.
there's no poetry between us
i don't think there ever was

RIPPED AND TORN INTO PIECES
ALL SELF CONFIDENCE DECREASES
NOTHING LEFT EXCEPT BITS OF ME
A FRAGMENT OF WHO I USED TO BE

It’s a chain of events,
A cycle of sin.
Always staying hidden,
So we cannot win.
Shame has the upper hand,
Cloaked in secrecy.
A moment of pleasure,
******* was the fee.

It’s a shame to speak of
Things done in secret.
A convenient excuse
To hide how wicked
Things we’ve formerly done.
Past; but hidden still
From next generations
Stumbling the same hill.

Darkness will always flee
When the Light confronts.
Are we evading Truth,
Fearing their judgement?
But who hasn’t fallen?
Which ones have no sin?
We must walk in light to
Fellowship again.
