I had this dream where we walked along the beach and
you said to me you died.
I looked at you perplexed, I didn't understand.
I turned to you, you looked so young and naive,
You didn't know then what I now can see.
Poison green eyes stare up at me,
I recognize the pain and anger you hold in your eyes.
I want to help you, to hold you, to tell you it's going to be okay
But it won't be, you’ll learn that soon.
“You need guidance you're never going to get,
You've been looking in the wrong places for it all your life.
It's not your fault, you need to realize that, accept it and move on-”
And again you won't accept that you’ll just hold it all in, I've learned that,
“-don't let the little things get to you, you’ll just pick them apart,
until they start to destroy you from the inside.
You need to trust,
I know so many people broke you, but give them a chance, you need to keep trusting
Or you'll never find the people in life really worth knowing.”
You're only response is a look of apathy.
I turn away as this is all I can do.
I wish you could hear me and understand the depth to what I say
To protect you from the pained look in your eyes that scream save me.
All I can do is move forward and know that you’ll make it, even if you can't move on now.
My feet make footprints in the sand as I walk away and you just stand there but I know
One day you'll gather the courage and join me.
Something I wish I had known
