Sometimes song leaves my lips
but mostly from my fingertips
-I draw poems in the sand.

they tell me repeatedly
we only help the wound grow
by licking it again and again

it doesn't heal like that

they also tell me I must accept
what I feel about you
and then forgive you!

it makes things better, they say

what they don't explain, however,
is why I haven't got another option?
and how long am I supposed to wait eitherway
when I have already tried everything?

am I supposed to wait even?

Wanderer
It used to be
when we were in a crowded room
our eyes would lock
and smiles would creep up our faces
just knowing the other was there
brought so much joy

But this time was different
you hardly glanced at me
our eyes only meeting for a second
before you turned away
no smile
not even the slightest lift
in the corners of your mouth

I can't figure out
if you wont look at me
because you don't love me
or because you still do

The only thing I know is that
it took every ounce of strength I had
not to break down in tears
the moment I left that room
Why do things have to be this way?

Little Bear
One bag of flour
the self raising kind
a pound of bacon
without the rind

A loaf of bread
a jar of jam
remember the pickle
to go with the ham

Dog food and cat food
cheese and coffee
don't forget raisins
and nuts for the toffee

Tomatoes, sun-dried
get those if you're able,
if you're not sure
it will say on the label

Toilet rolls, eggs
shampoo and stir fry
get rolls without seeds
heaven knows why

Salad and butter
hot dogs and sauce
get reduced fat, low sugar,
and lo salt of course

Chocolate and sweetcorn
chicken and stuffing
A chocolate chip, walnut
and blueberry muffin

Pizza with pineapple
ham and some cheese
fairy and cookies
Ariel Fabreeze

Turkey, satsumas
not oranges with pips
tin foil and razors
and food bags with zips

Nutella is best
it's the one we like most
so get a big jar
to spread on our toast

Boys, thank you for doing
the shopping for me
oh, and don't forget cake
and biscuits and tea

I'll leave it to you
if there're things that I've missed
Just get what you think
if it's not on the list.
Re-posted from my previous account..
There are some incredible and truly outstanding poets here, I always feel like my meager offering might just as well be a shopping list compared. So I wrote one just to prove it :o)
I don’t like saying “I love you”
May it be at the
Height of passion or
A passing, daily fancy
I don’t like saying “I love you”.

I would rather
Tread close against
Your warmth,
Hard-pressed in the
Outdoor rain,
I would rather laugh
Uninhibitedly, loud
Loud enough that those who play
Among the clouds
Hear my joy,
I would rather steal
The sadness off your
Chapped lips ‘til
Every mem’ry is but a shadow
Of yesteryear’s
Pain

I don’t like saying “I love you”
May it be before the
Gates of heaven or
Against the blindfold of
Darkness,
I don’t like saying “I love you”.
We owe our love
More than that.

There's a point when the welfare of others begins to take its toll on you
When the wellbeing of someone is more important than yourself

You have to love yourself enough to stop
You have to love yourself enough to say no
You have to love yourself enough to realize
It was hurting you, and the whole time it wasn't okay
You have to love yourself enough to move on
