There was a time life was so simple
behind every book was a story to tell

a smile would send you on your way

Now the faces all come so unclear
that only show shadows of people
of those outside of God's temple

Once there was a dream of life in a fairytale
until the world watched a Heaven turn to Hell

I saw an Angel and looked in her eye's

all that was burning inside of me
to carry on with my legacy
of who it was that I am
what made me into this man

I want the world to see and know
all that I had here that I would show
through these thoughts I write for you

I'm not seeking to be held in praise
when it's time for my final days
just want the world to see what I been through
and the dreams that I made
behind these eye's that soon will fade

I sat down by the edge of the river
where the dreams of us use to flow
with pen in my hand
I wrote all my love to you
everything I wanted to say
I wrote all in this letter
that I could never seem to send

It said I would give my love to you
if I could please only make you stay
I would give my love to you
and dance with you forever
if you could only find a way
I would give my love to you each day
like the one that you never knew
and every morning would always bring something new
if you could believe in a love so true

I could give you the night and
turn your sky blue
but now only a time tells stories
that's written in the sand
as I close my eyes to pretend
that I never let you go
