A Song For Us All Lyrics

You see me now
You see I’m nervous
You see how
This isn’t how I want to be
But you just keep telling me
Yeah you just keep telling me
That I’ll never be anything
Because I’m not as confident as you

[Chorus]
But I won’t let it bother me
Cause someday I’ll find out where my voice is
Someday, somewhere
Oh too many choices
Someday I’ll say
This is the place, this is the time
This is day
For me to shine
I’ll be singing my song
And I’d hope you all could start to sing along

Suddenly I’m up on stage
My eyes skim the crowd
And I see them all looking back at me
And suddenly I don’t know why
But my legs feel weak
And here come the butterflies
The words just sort of leave my mouth
And I try to sing
But no more words come out
I just want to run and cry
Because now
I’m feeling super shy

[Chorus]

I know we’re not all the same
But if you can let your confidence shine through
I promise I’ll never forget your name
Because if you can do it, then we can too
So don’t ever let them bring you down
No matter what they say
Your confidence can be found

So why should you let them bother you
Cause someday we’ll find our voices
No matter when, no matter how
Life’s so full of choices
So let’s all shout it out loud
This is the place, this is the time
This is day
For me to shine
And soon the whole world will be
Singing your song

And you might say that
I’ll never be anything...

Home Depot does not sell azure paint.
No. They do have Morning Sky,
Tropical Lagoon, Morning Breeze,
Ocean Cruise, Cozumel, Empress Teal,
Almost Aqua, and Navy.  But no azure.
No cyan, either. No plain ol' blue.
I will take my verdant money elsewhere.
Home Depot should be more poet friendly.

I can fake my identity and try to look happy,
but its all just a cover.
Take a swig from the flask and remove the last mask
only to find another.

There was once a time when I knew myself,
but now I'm not so sure.
All semblance of self-worth lay eroding in the dirt,
and its all thanks to her.

It's not really her fault, I'm truly to blame.
I grew selfish out of fear.
Afraid of being alone, I couldn't let her go
and now she's nowhere near.
A quick freestyle that I did.

It's the little things that remind me most of you
The girl who wore her hair in a bun,
Or the boy playing soccer in the  grass.
That song that everybody loves
And the way the sun peaks through the clouds after rain.
Those things bring back the memories of a time not so long ago.
A time when we were happy and free. When we were together.
But now things are different. The sounds of life seem so muted.
And the bright colors so dull.
The joy is fading and being replaced by the deep pit of misery I've fallen into.
There isn't a light at the end of the tunnel anymore. It's just darkness in here
