betterdays
i am but one leaf
not important me
i just gather a little sun
and a few breaths
when it rains, a catch
a drop or two.
one leaf, not important me
but as a part of community
as part of a tree...i help
the world ....i run the world

i am just a leaf,
lying, dying on the ground
not important me
just decaying rotting
fibourous bit of dead tree
not important ******* me

but as community
as mulch and compost
i help  protect the tree
and i help feed the world

dayumn!!
i am leaf
and
i amaze me....
just a quick freeflow for joe cole's prompt
(although not sure i class as young, joe..lol)

.....it is all about perspective
people
we are all more important than we believe
and we are all one leaf on a great big tree... humanitree.

Dark shadows circled my nest
on the ridgeline that
spooky winter night.
All I could see
was the moonglow
sifting through my misty breath,
glinting off my suppressor.
Icy winds whipped
up through the valley
to kiss my bearded face
& freeze my teardrops.
I thanked God for my pakol
and woolen fingerless gloves.
The fibers kept me warm
under the blanket of stars.
Not a cloud,
nor a single wisp
could I see against the pitch.
I had the itch to pop off a round
on a falling pebble.
But to do so,
might have meant certain death.
The area was crawling with bad guys,
insurgents looking for heads.

Wait and see people,
when the power goes out,
it's going to be a freak show.
Ya know, it goes out for only an hour
& people get totally squirrelly,
they get really agitated,
start squawking.
Imagine a week to ten days.
It ain't going to be playin' yahtzee,
Personally, I'll be going on the offensive,
if you don't take the initiative,
the hooligans are going to come
and take all your **** by force.
I saw three headless bodies once,
hands tied behind their backs,
it was a ****** affair.
So listen up folks,
this picture of peace & calm
is only a facade,
it hides the animal
inside of all of us.
I've seen them.
Most people
are ravenous wolves
in disguise.

You've shaken,
you've shook,
you've rattled
your veins off
& like a shot,
you drop,
you float,
swirling,
twirling downward
in the gentle breezes,
those strong winds
you oh so loved.
Now gently you lie,
crinkled with Mother Earth,
under her naked trees.

It's simple, write me a poem
A simple poem???ñ
Yes, a simple poem about a leaf
Can you impress with a poem about something so obscure?
I believe you can
Just let your imagination take over
Let inspiration flow
Come on kids impress me
Take that leaf and make it grow
I await with interest to see what comes out of this

There once was a town in the world.
In this little town, lived a girl.
She barely could write,
But sat up all night.
Carefully carving each word.

The poem she wrote was a dream.
A thought that had grown, it'd seem.
The frailest of strands;
Words woven by hands.
Like droplets of diamond
Downstream.

The morning sun shone on the stairs.
He sat there, his face holding tears.
Her father, and all
That little girl called
Her family, burdened with fears.

She sat down beside the poor man.
Put paper inside his strong hand.
She left him to read,
As if sowing a seed.
And so, the whole healing began.

Her words had a life of their own.
Of wisdom beyond any known.
They spoke of a place
That was floating in space,
Yet it's beings were far from alone.

Why cry when there's laughter?
Why fight when there's dance?
Why hate when there's family,
Fun and romance?

Her words were so simple, so clean.
Yet painted in colours unseen
Through verses and lines,
And symbols and signs...
To adults, elders, infants and teens.

It took not religion, it seems.
No army, no guns or machines.
To shape this old world
To the words of a girl
With paper, a pen... and a dream.

You think we have all the time in the world.
Think again.
I was born with curly hair,
a bubbly laugh
and a blue eyed stare.

I was born with freckles on my nose,
always a need to know
and a reason to share.

I was born as part of a vanishing twin,
always preferring to be by myself
and always knowing I wasn't alone.

I reabsorbed my other twin, the
chromosomal abnormality, a blighted ****
if you will.

I put my duality down to this abnormality,
yet, always wanting to know,
my curiosity always on show.

I wonder why I came to be?
With the other me fading away.
I look for others with my freckles, blue eyes and grin.

I've never found her or him.

I was born a half of a whole,
maybe it's why sometimes I'm light, other times dark.
My twin left its mark, but, I think I'm the dark half.
