Wandering back from school
In the Summer heat
Skirt rolled up
Above the knee
The pleats
No longer neat.

Up the hill
Blouse undone
Cuffs unbuttoned
In the sun
And round your waist
A striped tie
A blazer put
To one side
Floppy bag
Packet of sweets
Walking slowly
Along the street.

Boys shout from their cars
Explietives or vows
You look at your shoes
Anywhere else will do.
And yet this courtship call
Is the beginning of it all
Half flattered,half ashamed
You've entered into
A new game.

Pablo Neruda
When I cannot look at your face
I look at your feet.
Your feet of arched bone,
your hard little feet.
I know that they support you,
and that your sweet weight
rises upon them.
Your waist and your *******,
the doubled purple
of your *******,
the sockets of your eyes
that have just flown away,
your wide fruit mouth,
your red tresses,
my little tower.
But I love your feet
only because they walked
upon the earth and upon
the wind and upon the waters,
until they found me.

Catch me laughing for the first time.
Catch me acting normal.
catch me reaching for the stars.
Catch me loving with my whole heart.
Catch me being different and real.
Catch me with a smile.
Catch me fallen in love.
Catch me dreaming big.
Catch me changing the world.
Catch me stepping up my game.
Catch me loving every bit of life.
Catch me doing what I do best.
Catch me giving my all.
Catch me working to be the best.
Catch me loving my kids with all the love in the world.
Catch me faking it to make it.
Catch me thanking God for life.
Catch me moving to something greater.
Catch me leaving the haters in my pass.
Catch me being who God wanted me to be.
Catch me if you can!!

I am not ready
don't pluck me
I felt something
pulling me

so I looked, back
over my heavy shoulder
as I lugged that broken seat
down the stairs on casters

it fell apart
when he grabbed it by the arms
and slammed it into the linoleum
with me in it

after I rolled it to the dumpster
and lifted it over the metal edge,
I remember the relief of letting go
of that fractured, useless piece

somehow I was
lighter

as if tossing that moment
and all the things
no longer safe
for me
A woman who chooses a lover who was born the same day as her has a fraternal-twin complex. And, of course, a woman who chooses a lover who looks like her garbage man has a  garbage man complex.

the sea
is limitless
and turbulent
and wildly beautiful
and has captured my heart in its
shimmering swells of cobalt waves.
this is a love letter
for a love that cannot be captured in words.
that is all.

i want to memorize everything
that has to do with you
the sound of your laugh
defining home
or how flowers bloom
in your eyes when you smile
possibly the greatest and simultaneously the worst feeling one can experience is the realization that you are starting to fall in love with somebody
