Oh to drown in the scent of books
And to vividly imagine details in every corner and crook
The musky smell and creaky wooden floor
The cobwebs on bookshelves and the sliding doors
Fingers grazing the hard bookcase
Dust on my fingers from the rims I trace
Echoed footsteps through the room
The letters and dried flowers and the ***** broom
The attic window and ascending stairs
Feather quills on sill and decor pairs
Texts and symbols drafted on vellum pages
As my mind drifted to the little cages
The cages that bore Canary too yellow
That with me gazed at the colors and along grew mellow

Mystical World
Gauri Oct 2020
Some people wander into the woods
Some watch in silence with hoods
Some stay in dreams all day
Some are hurt but still okay
Walking in the crowd trying to hide
The societal norms which we pretend to abide
Wondering what it’s like to be free
Travelling around space and resting under a tree
The fake smile to capture anyone’s sight
In depths we are still struggling to fight
Miracles happening only in tales
Water dried out and food left to stale
It requires courage to start something new
Dear, the ones who live through are just a few
Waiting to be a part of the world standing in a queue
But I believe in the belief of just being YOU…..

Don't get lost in the chaos of this world....find your originality

SHE
Gauri Oct 2020
SHE
I can’t stop thinking about it
Need to rest a little bit
Sitting on a chair listening
Surrounded by a silence too deafening
Looking through mist
All those games that now seem to twist
The trees covering the ground
And some people remain uncrowned
Writing in my journal day and night
I stand on a cliff at a great height
Seeing her walk down a hallway
I keep following her down the walkway
Her hands behind her back and hair tied
Lips smiled but heart cried
She stopped by a shop for a minute
Eyes met mine and pantomimic
She continued walking, passing blocks
It was late as I gazed at the tower clock
Entering a misty place
I saw the flowers she emplaced
Lying beside the grave she kept her tears in
Now there was nothing more left to imagine….
I dedicate this poem to one of my closest friend

Only if you knew
Gauri Oct 2020
My cuts and bruises pain no more
I'm dead like the fishes washed away on shore
muffled sounds come up as I scream
Demons lock me up in cages in dreams
I wonder and live in fear
All you ever gave me were tears
You never asked me to stay
Now you stare my frame as I walk away
I may have trusted a few
but only if you knew
I truly loved YOU....
