Why do I write poetry
Because sometimes my emotions get the best of me
And conversations with others don't satisfy
Why do I paint and cut and color
Because sometimes the visions are so vivid they force themselves out
Why do I dance
Because theres no choice my crazy energy must be released
People call me lunatic and crazy or wild
I'm sometimes hurt by this-
But this is the way I was made
I can't fight it
And I don't want to change
I have many other responsibilities
But these passions "cut the line"
Others don't seen to understand
Lord knows I've tried to explain
Those days of explaining are now over
This is who I am

Do you know that feeling-
The feeling when saying "I love you"
Is simply not enough
Simply not enough to express
what has got a hold of your heart.

Oh, I fear I'm there!
And I hope my lover knows that
every time I say I love him
I wish it had the all the power of
the first time I'd ever said it.

Then he would know how much I love him so.

Why do people get mad at me
For things like sickness
It's not a choice or a weakness

And for a person like me
Who needs to be out and about
This sick feeling is something
I could do without

So why
Why be mad at me
I want to be feeling good and free

I'm lying in my bed late afternoon
I'm thinking about my life
The messiness that it is...
And suddenly a vision of you appears in the door way

With you head down but eyes up
Hands in your jeans

Even without an air mattress
Or a bed

Sometimes I have this wonderful dream-
You and I go out to dinner,
Then go home and make love...

Seeing your face at my door
Is the sweetest of surprises

When I read them your autumn gold eyes appear,(hope)

Why do you laugh?  You were looking at me in this "different"way at the bar. No one was around and I could feel something coming on, something stirring. And you said "I think I..". And I cut you off and gasped and said "oh noooooooo" and you said
"I do, I think I'm in love with you." And I could and couldn't believe it. At that moment I felt so beautiful,so happy yet so scared about us and our future.
But today I thank god that you love me and feel that we are truly,madly, deeply in love.
