Still, unmoving, and cold,
The blue eats up the warm red,
Then alone, on the long narrow road,
Floating along, floating...leaving behind much unsaid.

But between the high and  sounding,
And the lowly quiets,
Rests a place for poets,
Bedecked of beautiful writing.

Sleep is my only drug,
I get vitality, not from a mug,
Deprive me not of my snooze,
For I make no friend with the *****.

The pain of a loss,
This life has but no gain,
So what's the fuss,
Over a useless refrain?

Terrible searing pain,
My heart is rendered,
All smiles flee my face,
My country achieves no gain;

Dashed hopes is all we get,
Our beautiful history made in sweat,
The passionate reward is whose to beget?
Alas! my country is no where yet;

It is all slipping away,
Athletes, boxers, weight lifters,
Jumpers, footballers, pin-pongers,
My country struggles all the way;

And at a time,
When change is a rife,
Endless propaganda across the clime,
Perhaps, a good time, to end her life?

As she turned a year older,
And I thought the time was perfect,
Those four words left my mouth,
Never spake 'em before, and ne'er again.

The light caught your eye,
And kept me mesmerised,
Your melody floated by,
And left me hypnotised.

That all my life,
To you I devoted,
But only rewarded,
With sorrow and strife.

May true love seek you out,
And not some randy tout,
Your own man to complete you,
And honour you all through.

Why peek from behind the clouds,
When you can break the through the folds,
Turn fluffy fear into a story.
And blaze in all your glory,

Emotions bubbled from deep within,

Olympus is in mourning,
Pedestrian lowlifes have assumed,
Proportions only fit for dwellers,
Of that celestial firmament.

Will we look back in sincere amazement,
Of how gullible we had been,
Or in sheer and unforgivable embarrassment,
That we did not truly, honestly, come out clean?

Now the earth has completed another revolution,
And with great outpouring of emotion,
And endless international propaganda,
We all wonder where the two hundred and nineteen are???

In a cloud of disbelief and great distrust,
Over three hundred were snatched in the dead of night,
Since, more speculations have characterised their plight,
And put this minority's government on a failed ******.

The staleness of your emotion,
Irritates me much,
No bearing on my condition,
Enough of such and such.

The sight was shocking,

The nights when they bawl and bawl,
Your man will rock and rock 'em back to sleep,
So, earth's incredible little angels' mother,
No worries, they got a super, super father!

And the day you gave me ten naira,

And made the most delicious fufu with okra on Christmas day,
With more love;
And sold all your crates of soft drinks just so we could feed,
With inexplicable love;
And although you would baby this man and annoy me! Gosh!
All with undying love;
I deserve no other mother but you,
And I love you, mummy.

But when I saw her my heart danced,
A dance that thumped and jumped,
She was everything my desire wanted,
And more so that my soul daily worshiped;

But the day I saw her with another,
Everything I built was torn asunder,
The man, certainly, was not her brother,
They looked too happy and too warm together;

But what did she want?
We were young, and sure would enjoy heaven's grant,
Yes, I had no job, but certainly not a pissant,
Together, I believed, our lives could be vibrant;

But alas! Conception did not come to term,
Something went wrong with our germ,
She refused to be my gem,
And broke, into pieces, my world's stem.

But there is a place in the west of Africa,
Named after a river called the Niger,
The people wander in random confusion,
In perpetual experimental commotion.

Everything belongs to mother,
What is hers is ours,
We all embrace the cold together,
And never question her terrible powers.

The rich become even richer,
And the poor are no better,
Life is a rat race,
And you steal plenty, just in case.

The supreme leader and overlord,
To his people, he is GOD!
He declares, and it comes to pass,
His nation worships him and westerners call him an ***.

The ruler wields absolute authority,
He tramples upon the minority,
With ferocity, he goes out to conquer,
And lays waste upon the weak across the border.

The girls have no blame,
For the indolence of men,
365 days are all the same,
Dusty roads with ***** mien.

No more wellingtons,
No more icy things,
No more muddy murk,
No more shivering in the lurk.

Umbrellas to hook,
The skies are crisp and blue,
Oh, what brilliant hue,
Out in the air, or laying by the brook.

Puffy and red from boredom,
Visual aches from endless rotation,
Politics in Nigeria is base,
This way or that, a hopeless case.

My heart wept,
When I saw where he was kept,
Unfit even for the dead,
But he proudly introduced his spread.

If wishes were fishes,
Everyone would swim,
But I drop like lead,
Even when I tread like mad.

The minority lays the golden egg,
And one waddles into Aso Rock,
The crows are on edge,
Threaten to peck him out in a one-way truck.

So our grandfathers have gathered,
To pen resolve not to insult,
But barely had the ink dried,
Than a shocker left our jaws slackened!

Out of the green,
Comes this feathery blue,
Shapely to behold,
So captivating and true.

When I was three,

He comes in civilian apparel.

But vote your conscience, what conscience?!
In the land of poverty and honey,
Hehehehehehe! What conscience?

But I made it past nineteen!
No boyfriends, or unwanted pregnancies!
Now, allow me beyond where you have been!
Let me take my own chances!
