Wednesday
They say the grass isn’t greener on the other side
but it has been raining for 3 months straight and
it looks dew blessed to me

sometimes staring at you through windowpane hurts
like there is something in the way the glass glares
in this seemingly ever beating sun

one day you will leave me,
this I know already.
I am already preparing myself for the inevitable to happen.

Hurts my soul and sets my organs on a slow burning roast
acid washing my heart and
pinpricks in my jugular

I try to see you in the darkness
in the light
in the way your brow crunches when you think
in the scar on your dimple.

I tell myself you do not love me like I love you,
regardless of if that is true.

Concealed Carry can sometimes cause
More problems then its worth
If every time that you need
You always use it first

You're not supposed to stop and think
Of the fear that you may have
The pain that's caused by others
Is simply not allowed to last

Concealed Carry is hard to hide
When it always stays with you
It becomes the thing that you use most
When you dont know what to do

Concealed Carry might just be
The worst thing you can use
You should always try to talk things out
And do whats best for you

When you Conceal Carry feelings
And do not set them free
They become the worst of weapons
And can drop you to your knees

Concealed Carry can sometimes cause
More problems then its worth
If every time that you need
You always use it first

Im a cop so no gun fanatics about our rights to carry. I carry and I believe you have the same right as long as we all abide by the same laws there should be no problem. Its the crazy ones who carry that worry me but i hope that I or a fellow conceal carry will be there if that were to happen. Ok, my rant is over and my poem was not about any of that I just didnt want to get the hate mail from the far right. Im right in the middle on most issues.

Don't Drink The Kool-Aid

Don't drink the Kool-Aid
That's a phrase you'll sometimes hear
It means don't believe every word
And don't live your life in fear

Don't walk around with blinders
Try to see the other side
You can listen to what others say
But make up your own mind

You do not have to follow
When someone makes a stand
There are many different points of view
Each side must get a chance

Your opinion may just matter
To no one else but you
The experience of a persons life
Creates their point of view

So don't drink the Kool-Aid
You can't believe all that you hear
Dont trust someone blindly
And don't live your life in fear

Don't drink the Kool-Aid

For all the younger poets who may not know this. The phrase Don't drink the Kool-Aid was started because of the November 18, 1978 massacre when 918  people who were followers of preacher Jim Jones who while at a religious compound in Guyana drank Kool-Aid or a flovored drink laced with cyanide. It is believed that for many of these followers the drinking of this poison was voluntary.  Followers believed this one man so much that they were willing to give their own children poison. Since then this phrase has gained acceptance as meaning dont follow blindly.

Acting Out Of Habit

Acting out of habit
I go about my day
Pretending that the love I feel
Will somehow go away

There is a feeling in my heart
That I hide deep within
A secret love that I feel
Whenever they walk in

I tell myself they're taken
I can never be with them
Knowing that with just a chance
I would let a love begin

I cannot change who I am
Or the way I feel inside
Hopeing they will somehow see
And want me in their life

Acting out of habit
I go about my day
Pretending that the love I feel
Will somehow go away

Acting out of Habit

A part of life still untold

This life I have has gone by fast
I now reminisce as I look back
So many memories both good and bad
Yet I would not change this life I've had

In life I've seen a thing or two
I've had some laughs and cried some too
I have felt the love from my son
And had heartbreak from the one I loved

I've been rich and poor and in between
Owned houses, cars and many things
Learned lessons from the things I've done
And I've tried to do more right then wrong

My family, friends and God above
Have all shown me how to feel true love
I can choose which path to guide my way
And I decide to give more then I take

As  this life of mine starts calming down
There is an inner peace I've found
A different chapter now unfolds
My next part of life is still untold
We grow older and realize that there is more years behind us then in front of us. Still there is the calm of knowing that the life lived has been a good one and a peace of mind of knowing the rest of my life are to be my best years.

Love With All Your Heart

There are many different ways to love
That we can have within our hearts
A love that takes it's time to grow
Or one there from the start

Sometimes a love can fade away
A love never to return
While other love is meant to stay
Without worry or concern

It may take time to fall in love
Not all love starts out strong
We must open up our hearts to love
For thats where love belongs

There are times the love we feel inside
Stays hidden for to long
And that person we were meant to love
Not knowing is then gone

The way you choose to love someone
Can depend on who you are
But each person that you choose to love
Love with all your heart

Starting over can be so hard
It makes you stop and think
How many chances do I have
How many will I need

Is there someone out there
Who will truly understand
Become my true companion
And someday take my hand

Will someone get to know me
And like just what they see
Then change my life forever
With the love they give to me

Starting over can be so hard
It makes you stop and think
How many chances do I have
How many will I need

Come and hide from them tonight
They come for your blood, keep out of sight
They coming looking for victims, seeking a neck
They will find you and feed when they peck

The vampire pigeons are going coo coo coo
The vampire pigeons are coming after you

Oh no, be so quiet, because they are here
I can see them bobbing and I feel fear
Blood red feathers and they show their crest
They are here to feed then escape to the nest

The vampire pigeons are going coo coo coo
The vampire pigeons are coming after you

What can we do? there is no where to go
Can anything ever stop this evil foe
But at last we are safe, I never thought of that
They are fleeing, they are running from the cat

The vampire pigeons are going coo coo coo
The vampire pigeons are coming after you

I want to read a book
That's never been read
Hear a gentle word
That's never been said
I want to sit back
And close my eyes
When I open them up
Everything is alright

I want to ring a bell
That's never been rung
Sing along to a song
That's never been sung
Pull back the curtain
With all of my might
So I can expose
Everything is alright

I want to see
What has never been seen
Take a long walk
In the hands of a dream
Reach as far as I can
The highest of heights
And pull down to earth
Everything is alright

I want a spot
Where I feel I belong
Take all that I've got
Before it is gone
I want to shine
The brightest of lights
So I can find
Everything is alright

He Has Now Become A Man

My Son has grown into a man
And I am proud of what I see
He gives himself to others
When others are in need

Shows compassion for his fellow man
And has a soul that is so true
Is not afraid to open up
Or to share his heart with you

My son has wisdom beyond his age
Seems to know what to say and do
Wont give the answer that you want
But the one that is right for you

He will stand his ground to do what's right
Or lead a group and make a stand
And that's how I know the boy that was
Has now become a man

For Kylor J. Roberts
"I Love you son, Dad"
I watch as he gives himself to others with no reward to himself other thn the knowledge that he is helping somone else.  I realize I have helped raise a boy into a man. A proud father and a great young man.
The young soldier was crying
And his comrade lay dying
In the trenches he bled
In these trenches he is dead

Will the big guns ever cease ?
Can both sides ever find peace ?
As bullets continue to fill the sky
How many men will still die ?

No matter who everyone blames
Generals continue with their war games
They are unwilling to stop
Sending brave men over the top

A child sees a better world
A child loves stories told
A child plays unseen adventures
A child never sees the danger unfold

Long ago we were all children
We played with an invisible friend
The joy we could always find
But one day, childhood came to an end

A parent is there to protect the child
A parent sees the real world outside
A parent will never go away
A parent is still a child deep inside

I miss the arms of my Mother
The authority of my Father's voice
The love of my Grandmother and Grampy
Just to have another day with them to rejoice

That child long ago, used to be me
That child long ago, they lifted up above
That child long ago, I want to be again
That child long ago, always had their love

All the greatest heroes came out to fight

Batman, Sherlock Holmes, Hercules and all the rest

To face the greatest villains out that night

The ones that were the most evil at their best

The villains were going to take over the Universe and rule

But not one of them really wanted to share

The heroes were the ones honest and true

They were always ready to fight honest and fair

But both heroes and villains failed to see the greatest menace of all

For who wants to read what they can not see

So both heroes and villains, one by one would fall

Forgotten in books, because everyone now watches TV
