In 2019,
I want more.

Want more sunrises
More rolling out of bed with a purpose

More afternoons curled in a love seat

I want a garden
inside me and in my backyard

More friends
More nuzzles from dogs

More oceans

More allowance to make mistakes
After all, you were brave enough to try.

More stillness
More belly laughs
More love letters

More sway in my hips
Cool breeze on my lips

More looking in the mirror to see my smile
not the width of my thighs

More finding shapes in the clouds

More moments that leave me breathless

More life
All the painfully messy beautifully chaotic morsels
dripping from my chin

In 2019,
I want more.

caroline
pony-tailed playmate
head tucked in her shirt
gazing steadily down
at her toes in the dirt

chaos tiptoes around her
naive oblivion
journeys in far away lands
just west of the meridian

watercolor fairy tales
bleeding outside the lines
unaware of the danger
unaware of the signs

let me sit with you, darling
in the dampened flower beds
and paint a new world
for us in our heads

Remember the times we used to sneak out at night
To go and catch fireflies
Grab a jacket and cup of coffee on nights that were cold
Chess was the game for getting ourselves new friends
New faces before signing up for Facebook
That was our way
Trying to fit in
Each chance we got was always ruined
We had to build our world
Not minding being rich or poor
White or black
Tall or short
Long as we always looked out for each other
For we had us and that was beautiful
And it mattered
A flashback of good olden days that we've outgrown but wish we could go back and keep living that way

WILLIAM WORTHLESS
when the sunsets on the prairie the moon begins to rise
stars watching over me in the midnight skies
cactus in the sillouette  casting shadows on the sand
moon shining up above lighting up the land

the quiet of the night  in the gentle breeze
such a peacful feeling puts my mind at ease
clouds go floating by.  like blankets in the night
silky as can be pure and so white

makes me warm inside sets my spirit free
gentle and so calm wakes the soul in me
i can feel the breeze gently floating by
moon shining up above in the prairie sky
