Now and forever
is how she used to sign her name,
now became then,
and forever never came.
Files and files
of remembered smilies
She followed her heart
Now she's falling apart
A collection of heirloom yesterdays
Now pain painted souvenirs
Absolute refusal to claim ownership
For the once upon a time tears.
Reality is a wake state nightmare
I can't get up
Overflowing misconceptions
No more room in my cup
Now years have past
Still day after day I rehash
Hold tight my soul, unable to move
Come with explanation,  on screams unsoothed
The curse of guilt, for even things I did not do
Are chains around my identity, mirrors lie to
the critical peace to my sanity, I am my own stranger head to toe
This reflection, this me                                           my hearts horror show
why is it these days that all the good die young?
when there's prisoners and felons waiting to be hung.
see it's only the innocent that get hit by blind eyes
when the bad ones they rot, in an eternity of lies
rapists and killers get visitors daily,
while my sisters lucky if anyone thought about her lately.
my good friends are being mowed down like spring grass
and the convicts are playing checkers and sharing loud laughs
the man who killed my sister is sitting in a cell,
while my sister is lying, 6 feet in the ground
how sad is that my friends are fading
while empty jail cells sit anticipating?

Why won't you tell me everything's ok
That all the struggle got pushed out of my way
Why won't you tell me the truth
I do not need your lies to sooth

Why can't everything be the same
Who is the one I have to blame
In this everlasting change
Why does it have to be outside my range

It is so hard to accept
The truth that we cannot adept
To all the changes happening in our life
To all the incidents catching us by surprise

Won't you tell me everything is ok
for I do know it will never be that way
This poem deals with change and the struggles that come with it.
