Inhale.
Make me
Your sustaining breaths

Exhale
Let it out
Let me
Be a release

To drink deeply,
Give to me
The longing and thirst
We share

Eat it up
I am here to
Sustain

You
Need me,
Don't
You
Now read it from the bottom up.
I dreamt and I saw the sky,
The sky above the trees
I saw the truth among the stars
The truth about you and me

I dreamt and I saw the world,
The world for what it was
I found you there in everything
The happiness and the chaos.

I dreamt and I saw from height,
A bird eye view of all
I saw you, higher, stronger and better
Than every brazen wall.

I dreamt and I saw a flower sweet,
A simple beauty alone
I felt you there, nurturing it.
Beautifying every ugly seed sown.

I dreamt and I saw a story,
A story yet untold
It was a beautiful myth, full of colors
About us, audacious and bold.

And thus I dreamt on and on,
Floating perfunctorily
I felt you there in my heart
Dreaming along with me.
You say that you are "Catholic"
What exactly does that mean
You eat fish on Friday
Instead of eating meat?

You say that you are "Baptist"
And the Bible is the infallible truth
I don't see how that is possible
In the actions that you choose

You say that you are "Jewish"
One of Gods chosen few
I never would have guessed that
By much of what you do

You say that you are "Muslim"
And that you pray three times a day
I'm not sure that helps that much
Watching what you do and say

I'm not here to bash religions
That's not what I mean to do
Just want to open up some eyes
And myself I will include

We talk up a good religious game
Then live our lives like hell
And that's what an unbelieving world my friend
Simply finds unbelievable

The waning hours
Asleep in time
A dream in rhyme
Desert sublime
So says the moon
So setting soon
Upon the dunes
Cactus flowers

Best Friends

I've lost my best friend,
thought we'd be together,
til the very end.
Been together for five long years,
if only you could see all my tears.
We'd sit on the couch and watch tv,
you even came with,
when I had to ***.
No bad, only good times,
this is worse than any hate crimes.
Thought I saw you by the door,
pushing your buttons, I adore.
Is that you, on the table,
come home, I miss my cable.
Searched the house, and found nothing,
I was hoping, she was just bluffing.
Dug deep into my ugly couch,
with that extra deep hole,
and there it was, among other things,
my long, lost beautiful remote control.
Don't you dare ever leave me again,
or you'll be Barbie,
and I'll be Ken.
Have you ever woken up startled
In the middle of the night

With the thought that your muse has left you
And cruelly turned out the lights

Leaving you afraid that in the morning
You'll wake up with no more rhyme

                    More often than not
                    These thoughts enter my head

Although I have often heard
Somethings are better left unsaid

I believe these thoughts I have
                    Would be better off dead

And these words that I now speak
Are they my muse or mine

And if the lights were turned off
Would that be that big a crime

When my muse tries to venture out
I believe the next time

I'll grab a hold, tie her up
And be the one to feed her the lines
Suddenly his shadow creeps on me
The tiptoeing man a new recruit
Walks with the tray of glasses of tea
There couldn’t be a man more mute!

The most conspicuously inconspicuous
He walks the office hall as in a trance
On a mission of filling and refilling glass
Seeing therein his salvation’s chance!

He moves around in a rigid detachment
Never hurrying and looking never eager
Except when he asks if you need sugar
All the day he repeats this one statement!

About him my envy I would now confide
Ill paid though he has taken life into stride
Lies unlocked in his breast the one mystery
One wealth to which he has found the key!
