I heard them,
lots of them
out on the Altiplano,
crying out,
screaming
to the brilliant stars.

And in my heart,
I knew they
had once understood
happiness.

She left her mark on me
& I've never been able
to shake
her fragrance.
Tomato juice doesn't work either.

I used to pump iron
deep in the heart of Texas.
where Meredith shined
like Waco,
the twisted cowgirl
with red braids
& wore rattlesnake Justins.

Of light at play…day’s end, to cease
Now mirrored of a rippled sea
Casting long in shadowed dreams
A drifting silhouette…at peace

Sail on, sail on,
currents feed this destined course

Arcs, spun gold…on dance card wings
Lemon dust, the sifted sound
Framed of flowing tangerine
Silence sings…as truth is found

Sail on, sail on,
captured breezes…quiet source

Abstract waves…in curtained sweep
Drape this ocean’s fantasy
Melodic so the depth to breathe
Champagne tints the tapestry

Sail on, sail on,
horizon’s beckoned rendezvous

Citrine jeweled on zephyr’s flight
Calmly cools in twilight feel
Motions quell the rhythm’d night
Beliefs this sun shall soon conceal

Sail on, sail on,
as daylight disappears from view
Let your heart drown in tears
To cleanse away the wound
From it shall spring eternal fountain
Of inspirations, to open your heart
To Love, Hope, and inspiration
Muses will come to drink from it
And poetry shall flow through you
Every particle of you enamored
By the sweet water, flows eternally
Replenish the soul and turn the tide
To delve deeper in to self-belief
And, embrace knowledge to fight a stormy world
Poetry is the panacea for a recuperating soul
For there is the eternal fountain to drink from*

The moon
sets west
to the rising of the sun,
bids farewell
to the cousin-stars.

Trickling tingles bubble, goaded from the verdant body
As a butterfly’s flutterings coax the flow
Widening and filling
With a gentle lapping of inlets
Ripples tease the reeds into turgid tremors
Merging to waves
Wave upon wave
Curves slide over curves
And at the Delta’s swollen, gaping breadth
Crests slip over craving crevices
Slapping froth in desperate gasps
Milking cruel spasms from the urgent need to reach escape
Until with turmoil resolved
A gentle calm inundates the great ocean of sleep.

Usually I like
the color azure,
but her hue was different,
she had eyes that looked
like dripping ice,
a frozen stare
that put chills
up your back,
made your hair
stand on end.
That's cold blue
baby.
