Painting Poetry

How do you write something
when everything's been said?

Do you use dictionaries and a thesaurus
to enhance a knackered vocabulary?

Do you use vivid imagery as
your words are oozing from your bitten
cracked lips?

Do you dip your Zoro brush in
a palette tray choosing your brightest color,
painting the keystrokes trying
to portray the smile that wont escape your memory?

Do you take out your trusty hammer and try
to nail the syllables together hoping they form a
craftsmanship valued by others?

Whatever the process, be diligent,
under the nails, the pages, or the pen
a beautiful beginning comes together then.

Providence

For hours on end I lightly tread,
While trying to judge, trying to mend
The on going feud between my heart and head.

"He's good, he's pure, he's kinder than most,"

"But the missing spark & butterflies,
The connection is misdiagnosed"

"You need safe, security, no sense of damage,"

"But you crave passion, intensity,
An enticing challenge."

How does one know the answer lying in wait?
Do we draw a conclusion, a chart,
Ignore them both and just call Fate?

Look @ the time

It's 2 a.m.
and like clockwork,
here you are waltzing right in

to my mind as if it's free
as if you've paid rent, as if the

door is only open to you.
well all i can say is, come on in,

would you like a glass of water?
maybe something stronger?

alive
the word running across my mind,
attempting what seems to be a 5k.
that's what you make me feel,
why my heart is in a race.

Of all the topics I scribble down with pen,
Your name reappears, again and again.
The spelling familiar, the sensation immense,
Your name is a blessing, but however tense
With emotions buried beneath the surface,
Your name races my heart, but my mind it curses.

Dark Eyes
audacious Jan 2019
Goodbye sunrise,
hello Dark eyes,

Peering from your perch,
as they linger as if they'll lurch

At any sudden movements, causing slight distress,
Your Dark eyes, revealing, seem to undress

The sensation of the atmosphere
surrounding our small space

Of the car we are sitting in,
Turned towards each other; face to face.

Your thoughts shout one thing
Your emotions another

Our love lingers above our heads
But our hearts hover

At the thought of the jump
The falling, the drown,

Of something so meant to be
It has been buried in the background.

For you, anything under the sun,
For you, the back seat and a coffee run.
For you, a sweet text, a humble stare.
For you, everything, I learned to care
For you, the things you loved, the things you shared,
For you, trips to all over, or trips simply nowhere.
For you, my love and undying affection,
For you, my heart, my smiles, my attempted perfection.
For you, a calm body, mind and soul,
For you, me waiting at beck and call.
For you, anything under the sun,

But for me, all I got was a hit and run.
