To an Old Friend
Joe Julian Grace Mar 2021
When one door closes, another opens
An optimist's dream,
and a pessimist's nightmare

Backs may be turned
and a door may be shut

But a candles flame burns,
late into the night

No foul winds or foreign rain drops,
can extinguish it's light

Even tho the door is closed,
to an old friend the candle always burns bright.
Writing this in remembering of an old friend drifting and moving on in life.

A Night to Never Forget
Joe Julian Grace Jan 2021
Cold and windy gushes like no other
Hands embraced in one another

Stars sparkling from black in blue
But this galaxy, is in the eyes of you

Open as a book with our story already written
No secrets bar one secret
Leaving only one smitten

I can't forget our night along the river
But the hole that was left,
won't let me be a forgiver
Looking Forward

A Simple Letter
Joe Julian Grace Oct 2020
Living in a world of Snapchat and Instagram,
yet our generations hardest hill to climb is communication.
Endless characters to use and send yet with no meaning at all.
Instant messaging with almost instant disatisfaction.

An A4 blank white sheet, a canvas for your expressions.
Joy, sadness, love and loss, all which can be painted with only one colour emotion.
Ink illuminating more than light on a phone ever could.

The beauty of letters with their poetic constructions.
From Heaneys letters of longing, to a sixteen year olds first love away from home.
Both understandably an act of strong passion and weakness to love
The choice of words hitting with a weight the writter and reader could only translate.

This is the sacrifice made by those who are oblivious to it.
The simplicity and satisfaction.
The lost joys,
of a simple letter

Friendship

FRIENDSHIP

Comradery, companionship and caring.

Comradery, that one more drink, that one more dance and that one more scéal.
Each creating its own story of bonding and continuing on its tradition.

Companionship, the glow you feel with their presence. No matter the weight of the heart, it's power will lift it with ease.

Caring, that one less drink, that one less story, but just one more minute. Sitting by their side minding and comforting you
against all woes and sorrows.
With no debt to be paid or collection to be made.

Comradery, companionship and caring.
