Un trial
begun wise

as a man thinks
so is he

as a tree grows, just so.

Seek first the order,
center out, or edge in,
bottom up, top down

thinking, seeking lost
reason, lost balance on
pivot jewel catchments,

chthonic coordinated response,
time
light, and light alone, physical
touch
line upon line, patient, waiting

for the forgotten first word.
Whole verses formed during the struggle to rise two hours early, lost
before the first word hit the screen

Cné
From a distance, she gazes with a sigh,
At the man by the sea, a captivating sight.
Lost in thought, he searches deep inside,
For the truth of who he’s meant to be,
and the path he’ll choose to ride.

She lifts a hand, a hesitant wave,
Like the ocean’s gentle touch
on the shore’s soft cave.
Yet doubt creeps in, as she questions her move,
Should she approach, or quietly slip away,
and let him find his groove?

The ocean’s vastness mirrors
her own uncertainty,
As she weighs the risk of reaching out,
and the comfort of anonymity.
For now, she stands, frozen in contemplation,
Torn between connection and solitude’s liberation.
I wrote an abbreviated version of this poem a few years ago and in rereading it, was inspired to add more.

Let's do another line
Of powdered sleep
Swim the oceans
With Hypnos
Tumble down in the deep
Dream of beauty
And horror
And nothing at all
You feel it so real
Sure as you're stuck to this ball
When your dreams
Are mostly disasters
Which are usually caused by your actions
You awake
It takes a couple of beats
To realise
The current apocalypse
Isn't happening.
