Autumn
Serinda Marie Nov 2023
The autumn of our lives:
when our bodies return to the earth liken to the leaves after their season comes to an end.
We then rest in the interim of life anew
our purpose fully recognized
our souls at peace with the knowledge that they’ve done as was intended from first light

My love is conditional and wavering
My patience is thin and rare
Am I the monster I always feared
Or is it you who’s put it there
I keep myself up at night replaying my whole day
Silently judging my mistakes and wishing them away
No matter how many prayers are said
No matter how many pleas
The only person judging me is the girl who’s on her knees.

I have spent my whole life wanting to be somebody else. Now I just want to be the girl I was.

Vegas
Serinda Marie Dec 2017
We'll always have Vegas, we'll always have that. The relationship is over, and we can't take it back. There is heartache, and sorrow, and a little more self-esteem.
I miss you everyday but now I can finally be me.
I can sleep at night now that the deprivation is over, no check ins every 5 minutes, no more looking over my shoulder.
There's always going to be doubt, my future's going to need to heal, but because of you I'll know when love is finally real.
Thank you for the heartache, and the pain you've caused this year, I'm glad we're finally over and I can start to
feel.
Now I get to figure out my dreams, my wants and my wishes, no more choosing for me, and controlling my
decisions.
I get to choose for myself now, you don't get to clout what I say or do,  my future's all mine now and it doesn't involve you.

You were my bushel kept my light from shining
You were my kryptonite kept me from flying
Yes puppeteer I'll do as you say, but I can finally smile when you look away.

Cherish the one that warms your soul more than fire ever could. The one that's love makes the burn of liquor feel like a flat coors in comparison.
