‪Just a simple moment ‬
‪That any two can share‬
‪Just a subtle notion‬
‪To let you know they care‬
‪Be it a friendly gesture ‬
‪Or a spoken word of praise‬
‪Can span the entire test of time‬
‪Just from uttering a phrase‬
‪Be kind, and give from the heart
Let us stand together
Even though we are apart
Inspired by a soldier overseas in full gear, handing an Arabic child a red ball which in turn, inspired me to write this piece
Environmental advice
from a re-purposed hag:
Stop driving cars.
Use a re-usable bag.
Cook dinner at home.
Adopt children, not pets.
Don't use plastic cups.
Don't eat tuna caught with nets.
Don't toss out food--
it becomes methane gas.
Stop shopping for clothes;
give consumerism a pass.
Wear natural fabrics.
Turn off extra lights.
Use solar cells.
Live the days and sleep the nights.
I admit I couldn't live without my care, but I'm a 50-something with bad knees and bad feet.
i was
always
sweet

so she
viewed
me
like marbled
piece
of meat

a tasty
treat

I was
cured
like
blood-
touched
marmalade

and there
i laid

what
a scrumptious
snack
i made

lustfully
she picked
my bones
so clean

no soul
left
to give
my corpse
a shining
sheen
The product of being bored and morose.

SomeOneElse
I so wish to not be.
To not be anymore
Tired of being lonely
Can't take it anymore
Tired of the rejections
Won't ever be desired
I'm tired of this life
And wish it be retired
I am nobody's type
I am no one's *******
Though I just keep trying
I'm running out of steam
I wish this life would end
To spare me all this pain
No matter how I try
It all seems just in vain
So I wish to not be
And not be anymore
How I feel like a lot lately
I am not this
unimaginable set
of we, two twigs
like darlings
      entwined
                and
moving lazy
up a tree,
still green
moss covered
              stone hands
warmed by the
sun and so
much
more
We
Together we might
make something
better, here inside
the blanket cover
of soil, of night
of stars and
even a well
lit
moon
I am not this
intangible
forgettable
and rarely used
tense, future
perfect and
                  continuous
Nope.
not
me

Eternal salvation’s a gift

From a righteous young maid in a shift

Who had never been laid;

By God’s Spirit: hand-made

was her baby, our burdens to lift.
PROMPT #20: write a poem about a handmade gift that you have received.

I spent this afternoon watching SHE (1965 Hammer version) with my daughter because I was dreading trying to rise to the challenge of this prompt. I wound up with a half-baked limerick based on Luke 1:37, 38
"For with God nothing shall be impossible.
And Mary said,
Behold the handmaid of the Lord;
be it unto me according to thy word.
And the angel departed from her."
